Hello everyone,
As you can tell by the title I am not quite 'new' here... but I am returning for the first time in a long time.
For those of you who don't know me, my name is Demi. I am 20 years of age- yet have many years of life experience and predestined maturity under my belt. I am about to commence my 3rd year of Psychology at university and love spending my free time catching up with friends over a bucket of tea and good conversation.
I guess you may be wondering why I left the forum... short version: I was not well and I could barely manage my own challenges let alone support and empathise with others. Long version... I think may need its own thread where I can provide my experiences and hear about how you are all going- what do you think?
I am so happy to be back, and for those of you wondering why the sudden return, I have learned to use my experience as a positive, study what I need to in order to support others. I hope that this time I can be there for those who need the support, comfort and to hear the voice of a person who has been through their fair share of challenges in my short 20yrs of life so far.
I am very excited to get to know you all and share this journey with you all. Excited to hear from you.
Demi X

Hi Demi,
Thank you for posting again. My name is JG and I am new to the forum but enjoying getting to know everyone online. Your psychology study sounds like it would be very interesting - did it help you when you weren't feeling so well? I can definitely see where you are coming from when you say that it is helpful to use your experience positively - I have personally found it can also really help in my recovery long-term.
I'm looking forward to reading your longer threads when they come.
JG.

Hi Demi, love to see you back with us again.
I'm sure the journey you have had to take was an experience you don't want to suffer again, but there is something you do learn after going through this most insidious illness, you learn so much and become a stronger person in probably another way than what you were before.
In your 3rd year of psychology, take your time, try and plan ahead and if you need someone to talk to please come back to us as well any other help you can.
You will be a terrific addition to all the fabulous people on this site and look forward to reading your comments.
Good luck with your 3rd year.
Geoff.

Hi JG,
Lovely to meet you 🙂 You are absolutely right! Studying psychology is extremely interesting and helpful in terms of my own experiences. Personally, I found that the content I have learned has not eased my own experiences; but has allowed me to understand how widely spread mental health is in general. That it affects more people then we realise, in ways, we have not even fully understood yet.
I agree that it is important to work towards using your experiences as a positive and how beneficial that can be. At the end of the day, we cannot always control what happens to us or those around us but we can try and learn from it and use it to help ourselves and others in the future. I am so happy to hear that you found that helpful in terms of your long-term recovery.
Take care and speak soon.

Hi Geoff,
Thank you for the warm welcome, it is lovely to be back in the swing of things.
I completely agree 🙂 as much as it has been a beyond difficult time in my life, I have learnt a lot more than I ever expected and definitely believe I am stronger for it.
Thank you for your encouraging wishes in regards to my studies, I have been planning ahead as much as I can and have a lot of exciting possibilities ahead of me. I will definitely be checking in on everyone here as well as getting the most from this forum as I can. I am excited to see what comes of our conversations here.
Hope all is well on your end?
