Tell me about your beyond blue name...

There are some great and creative names being used on beyond blue. I am really interested in getting to know some of the stories behind them and getting to know you the process.

I thought I'd introduce myself through explaining my name.

Gruffudd.

It is Welsh and pronounced Griffith. I have found a sense of place and belonging in my Welsh background - it has always been there but I never really owned it or thought much of it until the last couple of years. Exploring it has helped me learn about my dad, and answered some of the questions about him like why he thinks and does some things. It is not my name, rather a family name from my grandmother's side. She was perhaps the biggest influence growing up, she had us kids after school and taught the fine traditions of making welsh cakes and was just the best listener, drank litres of tea.

Hello "I won't leave my daughter without a mother"

If that is your little baby girl in the picture there, well she is worth fighting for. She is so adorable and even I just want to hug her.

My legal name is Michelle, but most call me Shelley or shell. It is a nickname. Anne is my middle name, the same as my mother's middle name.

Hi...I'm new here. I chose my name Gonegirl because as a child I began detaching from my reality. As an adult I'm still detaching. I'm hoping one day I'll meet the young girl inside myself that went missing many years ago 🙂

Hello Gruffudd and all of the other posters.

I belonged to a forum for many years  It was my go-to place when I felt in need of a friend, but it disappeared somewhere into cyberspace.

my name there was blue moon but that name is already taken, so I decided on azul, because my Spanish friend on the forum used to call me azul luna, Spanish for blue moon.

This is my first post  here.

It was a toss between "Iced Vovo" and "Scotchfinger". I went for scotchfinger in the end as my favourite bikkie with tea or coffee.

Totally should have gone the vovos - they are the king of biscuits 🙂

I like this thread, something fun.

El Guapo means The Handsome One.

Being of Spanish blood, my mum always use to say Que Guapo es mi Mingo.  My Mingo is so Handsome!

It is a term of endearment but also anyone who has seen the movie The Three Amigos will remember the infamous and villainous dirty Mexican bandit chief, also know as '' EL GUAPO ''  Too funny. 🙂  The paradox of names. 🙂

My name... 65 ... is very simple to explain, it's because I'll be 65 yrs old next month.  Couldn't think of anything else creative...  🙂

My forum name is 'aingeal' which is Gaelic for angel, my actual name is Angela, though most call me 'ange'.

I research my family geneaology which is steeped in UK and Irish ancestry - there's actually nothing else in there. Mum still refers to myself and siblings as 'Children of the British Isles'. My first ancestor was on my Mums side he was a bit of a rebel from Ireland and landed in Sydney in 1852 for knocking off stuff. His sister followed a year later on similar charges.

I was the kid who was always active and got my self hurt a bit (another thread I'll list them all one day), and Mum said I have always had a guardian angel looking over me.

So my name is a bit of a nod to my family ancestry and a nod to my guardian angel which I reckon is actually my Mum 🙂

Our precious children anchor us to a world we sometimes wish we could leave behind. They are a constant reminder of our goals and priorities. Their ability to stay present in the here and now entices us to be there with them, for them.  You are right, being fearful of what our future holds doesn't entitle us to deny them theirs. Of course this thought binds us but bonds are what relationships are made of.

So your username is a wonderful, significant one.
