System error page

Hi everyone,

Since relaunching our site last week, a number of you have been experiencing time-outs on the site which result you getting the 'System error' page. Our web developers are working to resolve this issue, and we apologise for any frustration and upset this has caused.

In the meantime, I'd strongly suggest that if you're typing up a long post that you do it in a separate program first, such as Word or Notepad, so as to avoid losing your post if the system error should strike.

We hope to have this resolved by the end of the week - thanks for your patience.

Thanks for the explanation Chris! I thought it was my internet connection, but I'm obviously not the only one experiencing this! Luckily, I've been saved by the copy and paste button so I haven't lost too many posts.

Sorry that you've lost posts, Narniakid, I know how frustrating that is.  For anyone reading, we need as much diagnostic information as we can for our developers - if you have experienced the system error in the past week, can you please let us know by replying in this thread with as much information as you can give us: when it happened, how many times it happened, whether you lost posts etc.  Thanks again.

dear BB, I did let you know, however I thought it should be displayed on the forum, that yes it happened to me this morning.

What happened was I had half replied to someone and then had to go out for half an hour to an hour and then continued on the same post and once finished I posted the reply and that's where 'system error' appeared. Thanks. Geoff.

Thanks for the feedback.  The site was updated this morning with a fix to address the system error issue.  The system error occurred for you as a result of the site being restarted while you were constructing your message.
