I am new to the forum writing. I work in a high stress front line job. And the last 18 months the stress and workload increased and I had pstd triggers by an assault. So going into a pstd clinic soon. Any advice for going in, I feel very scared .

Hi dee shay
Welcome to the forum, we are glad you are here and appreciate your posting. Opening up about challenges can be hard. Please know that seeking help is a great step, but that, of course, doesn't make it easier to do in the moment. The good news you aren't alone in feeling this way or being in this situation- this community can offer peer support, encouragement and like-minded community. To find such advice and support, check out this thread: https://www.beyondblue.org.au/get-support/online-forums/treatments-health-professionals-and-therapie.... You can use this thread to elaborate on your experiences too.
Let us know how you go with the clinic, if you like 🙂

Hi dee
shay,
I'd like to follow Tay100 and give you a warm welcome to the Beyond Blue forms! Thank you for having the courage to let us know a bit about what's been going on for you. I'm genuinely really glad to hear that you're seeking help, it is a difficult step and I commend you on taking that step!
As for advice, I can tell you that the people working there are there to support you, they are with you on your journey. It's completely normal to feel scared going into a clinic because there's a high chance that you'll have to talk about your trauma - which is frightening. BUT, PTSD clinic's are a safe space, the clinicians and other people that work there are highly trained and educated - so you'll be in great hands! Often I find just taking a deep breath before I go into any appointments that I'm nervous about going into.
We are all here cheering you on! I wish you all the best, and commend you on your journey!
