I just joined tonight and I’m already confused.  How does this forum work ?  I see there are posts with a huge lot ‘unread’ attached to different people.  I thought the forum would be VERY alive, especially considering the state of the world now.  The ‘state of the world’ sure is stressing me out.  Can someone help please ?

It can be confusing for your first time.
you have managed to post and start your own thread so well down.
I am unsure what the I read. I just look at the dates.
I am not sure what you mean by alive. The  threads are not in real time but I am answering you within 10 minutes then there is  a wait.

keeping on I am sure people will reply to you. Feel free to ask any questions. Welcome to the forum. Browse different topics to get a feel. People are nonjudgmental and very kind and supportive.

‘I am unsure what the I read’ - what do you mean ?
Alive - as in lots of posts, lots of replies

I belonged to BB years ago when the forums were very different - AND much easier to understand and follow.  Change isn’t always a good thing 😫

Dear Keeping-On,

Welcome first. “Unread” can often mean the person who posted the original discussion hasn’t logged back in to read the replies. There isn’t a way to know if your post has been answered, but to log in.
Whenever you post a discussion or reply to a discussion, the site must read your post to ensure or censor if the content is appropriate and then they will post it on the forum. This may take an hour or two. And then it appears on the site.

Any responses to your discussion or if you have replied to another discussion will make a number appear next to the bell icon up the top. This is your notification page so you can see what has been actioned on the post. The hearts on the discussion is just to support the post. It is an equivalent to a like. Others will tell you,you have been replied to and/or someone else has also replied to the same discussion.

I get what you are trying to say however, this isn’t a chat room. It is a forum. So instead of DM-ing, it is emailing essentially.

It is still a great place to write and express yourself,it is just slower then you may have thought it to be.
There are filters to choose the newest posts. And there is a encouragement that you shouldn’t only post about your self. You should try to answer others too. Even just for solidarity. Please remember to answer any posts by using the user name of the poster you are referring to, if you don’t it can be impossible to figure out what reply is for who. The posts don’t get connected under the original answering posters post. They just get posted one after another.

I hope this has cleared a little bit more about the forum. But you do have to have patient.

Thank you ABC01 for your reply.

IMHO a chat room is MUCH better, this is glacially slow and I’m finding it really frustrating.

Posts not following on to the original poster is illogical and inefficient IMHO.  Doesn’t BB understand that people with anxiety and/or depression would often be looking for a quick response in real time, which is so much more rewarding and fulfilling ?

I don’t think I’ll be here long 🙄

Dear Keeping-On,

I feel the frustration and agree. If you have to wait for a response,it is like being alone as you are already feeling and experiencing.

But this is the way that it works here.

And sometimes you can get some great responses that do help.
