Hi all!
New here, was googling for some support and when Beyond Blue came up thought to myself "Why have I not checked out these forums before??"
Anyway, I'm gay, 23-years-old and I suffer from anxiety and depression. I was diagnosed about 4 years ago although I'm pretty sure I've had mental health issues much longer.
I'm doing much better these days - my medications seem to be working, I've had regular therapy over the last 4 years and have supportive friends and family.
Sometimes, though, it's nice to be able to reach out to people with similar experiences, which is what brought me here. 🙂
Also hoping to be able to offer some advice or share my experiences in the hopes I can help others with what they're going through.
Ted x

Hiya Ted! It's great to meet you. It's also great to hear you have a supportive family and treatment that's working for you, really good. Connecting with fellow travellers helps us all and there are many folks here to share experiences with.
Please feel free to tell us more about yourself here on your thread and of course join in anywhere you want on the forum. If you're looking to chat and get to know others there's great threads on the Community Board, including a very lively virtual cafe called the BB Cafe. There's also the Sexuality and Gender Identity Board that has the Transcendent Rainbow Cafe where some of our LGBTI members post. And there's a young people's board with the Friends cafe for people under 25 (though they let me in and I'm twice that haha, see they are friendly!).
Helping others is very rewarding Ted and a very good way to help ourselves as well. Your experiences are valuable to us and will add to the shared strength and support we offer as a community.
Welcome!
Kaz

It doesn't matter what sexuality you are, depression is no different in that there are always issues that could be common to all of us, but it's terrific that you now want to participate with others who are really struggling and offer your advice and help to them. Geoff.
