Welcome to the forum scn,
Thanks for your introduction. Before joining with Beyondblue, I also had never used a forum before. I'm really glad that I'm on this forum now, as it is one of the most friendly and supportive places.
Long-term clinical depression is difficult and frustrating, but there are so many support options now. It's great that you see your GP for guidance, and that you have been seeing a psychiatrist too. Psychological help can be quite expensive, so it's great that you can seek some extra support here. Keeping in touch with your GP for in-person medical help is crucial though. Forum members are not medical experts, though most of us have our own personal experiences and insight to draw on. A number of us are studying psychology and other associated subjects, so have great interest in this area.
I highly recommend this resource to help with depression: http://www.cci.health.wa.gov.au/resources/infopax.cfm?Info_ID=37
This site is worth browsing in your free time: http://www.mindhealthconnect.org.au/
Helplines are also a great way to get free support. Beyondblue's 24/7 helpline number is 1300 22 4636.
If you have any questions, or would like to talk more about yourself and your situation, you can reply here on this thread.
I hope this forum is a supportive place for you 🙂
Best wishes,
