Hello all, I'm new here and just letting of some steam.

I am on meds for my on going depression and trying to stay positive. Being unemployed does not help and I've been looking for work for a while now. Going through endless job lists on the internet and finding nothing! At this rate it wont be long before I lose my house!     I am 50 and I am not getting any younger the competition for jobs is unbelievable, I don't have much hope for the future how can anyone enjoy life without having enough funds in the bank?

I don't know what I am going to do....suppose on until I cant go on any more. Thank you for taking the time to listen.

Hi Orion

Firstly, welcome to Beyond Blue and it's really good that you've sought this site out and posted.  However, it's not so good about the situation that you describe.

Being unemployed definitely does not help with depression and that makes the task of trying to stay positive and focussed so much harder.  It IS brilliant though that you wrote those key four words:  "trying to stay positive".

The job market at the moment as far as I'm aware is very tight and that just makes everything so much more difficult, because the competition for jobs is fierce.

Do you find many jobs that are suitable for you in your area?  Ones that you can apply for?  Not knowing your skillset or the like is a little hard to try to provide advice, but are you even looking on the part-time or casual market as well?

I guess a lot of it can be reflective of where you're living - as in, are there multiple job opportunities or are you in an area where the job vacancies are limited.  And please, you don't have to give away where you live if you don't wish.  Therefore you can still remain as anonymous as you wish too.

I really don't think my post has been all that beneficial to you, but I did want to say "hello" to you and I also hope that other kind BB people might be able to chip in with something perhaps a little more positive for you.

Kind regards

Neil
