Its great to be part of a forum where people don't tell you to think happy thoughts and just think more positively. I suffer acute anxiety based depression, I don't believe the black dog will ever leave my side; but it doesn't pull me around like it used to. The greatest impact on me personally and I know from experience has helped others is photography; it got me out of the house, it gave me a challenge, it is something I enjoyed in my youth and age, beliefs and ethnicity are no barrier; disability can be catered for. I would love to volunteer my time and skills to helping others out of depression using photography. I would love to know if anyone else has had similar results.

Welcome Rainbowpython,
I don't mind being reminded to make my thoughts less on the negative side, but you are right there is so much more here. Great to hear of the photography, and how it has been of help. I look forward to seeing you around the forums.
Rob.

Thanks Rob,
I am well known for my "Dad" jokes and have already dropped on off in Wednesday Worst Jokes.

Hi Jim
Paul here
Your ideas/comments and coping methods would be great to hear and for others to learn off.
I just bought a Nikon P900 with the biggest insane zoom ever put into a bridge camera 🙂
Cheers

Hi Paul,
Great choice and I know what you mean about the zoom 2000mm in a bridge nothing touches it, hope it brings you hours of pleasure.

Hey Jim
Thankyou for that 🙂 Also for the great topic too
I have (had) anxiety for 25 years...now a memory. The depression kicked in after about 20 years of anxiety..grr. The depression you have is the same as mine...Black Dog with me....then gone....ahhhh....then he comes back....grrrr...and then goes....
I am convinced it is chemically based ....adrenal overload...toxin release etc...I have 'accepted' the depression but it can hang around....grrrr
Good to meet you Jim
Cheers from a very Hot Melbourne at 39C....

Hi Paul,
I love Melbourne, you folk have a great transport system (Trams) and a very lively night life. I spent two nights of my stay out Street Shooting and had an absolute ball. My camera goes everywhere as it totally liberates me from depression. I still take the happy pills but I have been able to cut back on them. I am more than happy to help you out anyway that I can.
Cheers,
Jim

Hi Jim
and thanks for your kind reply too! Your offer of help is greatly appreciated. I have occasional problems with 'essential tremor' in times of stress (or adrenaline pumping so hard the hands shake a lot...Bad vibrations)
Can make photography so difficult...Anyway I recently bought a Monfrotto tripod which helps but looking at the bigger picture I am rapt those severe anxiety attacks have gone 🙂
I hope your day is good to you Jim....There are many kind people on here that post with problems that you would be able to help with your 'crackerjack' attitude/coping mechanisms if you wish of course 🙂
Thankyou for your support Jim
Paul
