Hi,
I'm new to this forum. I am hoping it could be an outlet for me and perhaps I may be of some assistance to others. Depression first hit me when I was around 30 in the shape of a virus that wouldn't go away. Things worsened till I had a breakdown in 1991. I was diagnosed with Major Depression and Melancholia. I made a good recovery only to get sick again when I went off medication. Since then I have struggled with my illness but all the time believe I have been improving.
Anyway, that's my story in a nutshell. I sincerely wish everyone dealing with this illness the best for the future.

dear Henry, please it's great for you to join us and I suppose 'check us out'. lol
If your lease was to be terminated then 2 months notice has to be given to you in writing by the owner or the real estate agent.
It's lovely to see that you still have your sense of humour, but please leave the chicken jokes out.
As your mood seems to be improving, don't worry if you have a slight relapse, as these are part of the course, and if you have the confidence to believe that you will get better in a day or so, and actually do, then your on your way to recovery, and I hope that I am not predicting too much for you, but you can let us know. Geoff.

Hi Henry
Thanx for getting back to us. I think it's awesome that your psych is doing the blood test for you with regard to your meds. I've had that done a few times and for me, it just shows how seriously they are treating the situation (as of course, you'd hope they would - but I have heard 'other stories').
Variations or changes in medications should be monitored closely/carefully and while it seems that things are going quite well for you now, just keep things in check, as I'm sure that you will.
I guess one other thing with the long-ish wait to see your psych, as the time goes along, if you feel anything that is troubling you at all, you can perhaps create a list or type them down. As the time goes along, you might feel that you've actually conquered that issue by yourself and no need to take it to your psych, or alternatively, it might still be something and so you can raise it with them at your next appointment.
I hope you stay with us and it would be good to hear from you again.
Kind regards
Neil

Hi Geoff,
Thanks for your great reply, I guess I have been "checking things out". Coming to a new forum is a bit like treading water waiting to dive in!.
I'm not sure if what you were saying about my lease applies to me because my 6 month lease runs out in 1 1/2 months time. As far as I know, if the landlord decides to give me the heave ho then, I only get 14 days notice. Whatever, I will follow this up and find out where I stand. Thanks for your help.
.Yes I do have a SOH but ok no fowl jokes CRINGE!
Thanks too for the advice regarding my mood etc. I felt some of the old fears today but they were weaker and my mood was down a little in the morning but improved in the afternoon. Remarkably, I feel so much better now. It's like the porch lights have been turned on but I realize what you say about falling back can happen too..
Hope you are doing well.
All the Best
Henry

dear Henry, how about writing a book of jokes.
I remember an old friend who has passed away tried to crack some jokes at his son's wedding, and the only person laughing was himself, but he kept on going.
I'm on a 12 month lease and I have to be given 2 months notice, but check this out with your real estate. Geoff.

Hi Geoff,
A book of jokes mmm. I can never remember them. My flatmate is always laughing at my jokings which is great for my ego. I think I'm a great comedian to one person, maybe not so funny to others. Maybe I'd be like your old friend?
Thanks for the info/advice re: my tenancy problem.
All the Best
Henry

Hi Neil,
I will take your advice and write down my problems etc for the doc to see on my next visit. I think it is a good idea especially when one is depressed and having a forgetful and troublesome mind. Thanks for the thought.
Will also try to control my excitement at feeling improved as this may not be a permanent thing. I hope it is but ...
I guess my psych. is taking things seriously as he explicitly told me to ring him if I felt a change for the worse.
I hope to stay longer at BB, thanks for having me.
All the Best
Henry
