Hi All

Never been able to talk to a lot of people about what is going on in my head which I guess makes things even harder.
Have recently changed employers as I wasn’t happy with where I was, the company had been chasing me for 12 months so thought we’ll why not.
After being there for nearly 2 months I wonder weather I made the right decision.

One thing I have never copped to well with is change, I look at things a 100 times, backwards, forwards etc before I actually decided.

I guess I’m just here to vent a bit 🤷‍♂️

hello and welcome to the forums.

firstly, it is perfectly ok to vent - a space where you can get your thoughts out of your head and put somewhere. At least that is how I feel.

i have leant that when it come to making decisions there is never really a wrong answer- you make the best decision based on the information that is available at the time. You can always create a list of pros and cons for each decision if that helps?

For example, would things have really changed at your old work place if you stayed? Do you like the work at the new place?

As far as not being able to the talk ... by posting here you have done a fairly good job. You sounds as though you can be quite hard on yourself. Maybe a perfectionist? Are you critical about the decisions you make>

I am listening.

Hi, welcome

What you have described is not uncommon, procrastinating? I'm the opposite but then with my jam packed life I've had I ended up more confident I suppose. Over 40 working years I had around 90 jobs and 15 professions result of mania etc. I mention this because had my time again I would have stayed in 5 or 6 of them instead of leaving. That what happens with all humans, we have regrets but regrets arent productive, like worry.

I hope you enjoy the forum

Thank you Smallwolf, i probably am hard on myself to a degree. I make the wrong decision and yes I do get down on myself.
The hardest part about leaving the old workplace were the awesome people I worked with (apart from a few). The manager was so unorganised and still is.
It was like I had no idea what my role was in the end so moved on.
The new place is a bit of a revamp of an old company I used to work for.
You know they offered good money a few employees I spoke to talked highly of them. Maybe I just need to give it some more time to see what happens.

Then I have a phone call with my dad today, and it was like he was having a bit of a vent to me about his property that they own saying that he is struggling as he’s now into his 70’s trying to look after 500 acres.
I feel like I should be stepping up to help him out but he makes no money off the farm just puts it back into the farm.
So then I think we’ll we have our bills to pay, the wife she works but not enough to cover all the bills.

So I overthink things to the max nearly enough to make myself sick.

Hello white knight

Yeah I’ve only had about 6 jobs been back to the same place probably 3 times though.

Hello Work life, being head-hunted is always a great delight to have a company chasing you for employment, even though you don't know how it would be working for them.

Counting backwards or forwards is your way to prevent something bad from happening to try and guarantee your safety but it can also be a compulsion that's involved in having OCD protecting you from something bad happening.

Not sure whether or not you agree with this but it may have started by moving into this new job and after 2 months you are unsure, and so OCD develops.

Geoff.
