Need Help

Hi all,

Thank you for having me here. I've got to a point in my life where I feel like I've hit rock bottom, I'm not sure exactly what I should do. I know I should go visit and doctor, but I'm terrified at the prospect. Any advice?

Nic

Hi Nic,

Welcome 😊

I totally understand your feelings of fear about seeing a doctor. From experience though, there's nothing to be afraid of.

It's great that you know what you need to do (the dr).

It's also great that you've reached out here.

After chatting on these forums for a bit, it might calm your nerves about seeing some professionals, and it might give you more confidence with people in your corner.

I'm so sorry you feel at rock bottom. I know it's a hirtible place to be.

You're not alone anymore, we're here and we understand.

You can use this thread to express your feelings if you want to.

There are awesome people here who will support you.

Go gently with yourself.

I too want to welcome you to the forum.

This is a friendly ,caring, supportive and nonjudgmental place.

Your doctor is a good place to start and they are experienced in listening to people who feel like you.

Sometimes it can help to write down a check list of what you want to say or even hand the doctor something you have written out about how you feel.

If you want you can look at some other threads and maybe get some ideas that may help you.

Thanks for taking this first important step.

Hi Nic

I also am here to support you ☺

Glad you're aware going to Dr is a good option, as Quirky said this is part of what they do.

Mental health is important & difficult to cope with alone, generally people in this field have compassion & understanding. They support us with a guiding hand to help us get through the hard times.

Good support & thoughts from Birdy & Quirky

Wishing you well

Hi Nic and welcome!

I think you’ve taken the first step already and that is admitting to yourself that you need help. Sometimes that alone is the hardest part. So congratulations, i hope it feels a little relieving to say those words, “I need help”.

Being able to talk freely here in a non-judgemental environment is also incredibly helpful. It can give you insight into what to expect when taking that next step of seeking help.

There are so many more avenues and much more awareness related to mental health these days than ever before. Your doctor is there to do a job and help you, not to judge you. Personally I have found counselling really helpful in understanding my depression and anxiety.

Do you know what has triggered you to feel the way you are feeling? Feeling like you’ve hit rock bottom can feel overwhelming. You are in a safe space here to be able to talk about what you’re going through if you feel comfortable with that.

Hope to hear from you soon 🙂
