Hello,
I'm new to the site, and am feeling isolated at the moment, and thought this possibly was a good place to have a chat with people in the same position.

Hello Jem42, can I offer you a warm welcome to the site and thank you for your comment.
It's very brave to post your first comment as there must have been many questions whether or not to do so.
You decide to type out a comment but may then edit it or maybe delete it because you are afraid of the reactions people say back to you, but this is a friendly site where you are talking with other people who have been through their own type of depression, the struggles where we have felt alone, but once we talk to each other we begin to feel much better.
I'm about to log off as I start early in the morning, normally at about 1.30 am, but there will be others who will respond back to you, and I have written down your avatar so I get back to you early in the morning.
Kindest regards.
Geoff.

Hello Jem42 and warm welcome to the Beyond Blue forums
The community here is caring, friendly, supportive and non judgemental. So if you feel like it you can talk more about what's brought you here. No pressure to do so.
It can be frightening to open up to a bunch of strangers. Though part of the community rules is we don't share information that reveals who we are. That's just something to keep in mind if you want to say something else.
I note in the walking group thread, you like to walk your dog along the beach. Yes, your psych is right walking is especially good for your mental health. My psych told me walking is good because it gets the neurotransmitters in the brain to spark and work. She said this helped to clear the brain of all the things that had happened during the day. I love walking, but sometimes I don't get out as much as I'd like. Partly because I'm scared of falling again.
The beach is my favourite place to walk - I too find it very calming for the soul. It brings me peace of mind too.
What other things do you do to stay calm and peaceful?
Where you to listen when you want to reach out again.
Kind regards
PamelaR

Thank you everyone for the warm welcome, I really appreciate it, I'm very new to all this posting etc. so am stumbling through it.
I've suffered from depression for a very long time, its throughout my family. Things come to a head early last year, where a multiple of things caught up with me, and I lost the plot, I lost my job, as I couldn't return to work as that was part of the problem, and have been out of work for almost a year.
I'm trying very hard to get back on my feet, but its such a battle. The worst thing is I cry, I have no control, its really hard to get a job, when I manage to get to an interview, when I cry when asked, "why you aren't working, what have you been doing with yourself for the last year".
I have no friends really, and family have their own problems. So here I am.
Thanks for listening .

Hi Jem
Where the tabs on the site say 'All Posts' 'New posts' and 'my threads'
If you click on all posts itll bring up other caragories. To find the BB cafe click on BB social spaces and itll be in there just click on the thread and post a reply just as you've done for here.
Your more than welcome to have a look through all the catagories and post where you would like too.
the threads that you contribute to, you can find in the 'my threads' tab.

Hi Jem
It can be quite tricky navigating the site.
Theres 3 tabs 'All posts' 'new posts' and ' my threads' if you click on all posts itll bring up other catagories. If you click on the bb social zone itll bring up threads including the bb cafe. You just click on the thread and post as you would here.
Feel free to take a look around all the catagories and post where you would like.
Youll find the threads you contribute to under 'my threads'
Hope this helps....
