I Cry

I Cry for the boy we have lost

I Cry for the man you could have been

I Cry for the abuse you suffered

I Cry for the blame you think is ours

I Cry for the pain we feel

I Cry for the conversations we no longer have

I Cry when the words you say cut like a knife

I Cry when you cause my heart to shatter

I Cry in silence so you don't see

I Cry most because I can't make you better

I Cry because I have failed as your mum

I Cry because I love you so much

I Cry because I can hate you so much too

I Cry for the boy we have lost

Ozdi,

what a moving and honest poem.

I can relate to it.Thnaks for sharing.

You have expressed the pain parents feel when their children are hurting.

Hello ozdi,

I am new here and think this is my first post. I'm still so muddled that I really can't remember.

I came here today to try to find some support, or someone to relate to, and found your poem.

You say you cry, "because I have failed you as your mum." It is the same for me ozdi. I cry for the same reason, and for many reasons beyond.

Thank you ozdi for having me know I am not alone, and therefore, nor are you.

I do not know how to navigate this site yet and may not be able to navigate my way back if you respond. Your poem was beautiful ozdi.

You cry for your son, I cry for my daughter ozdi. Beautiful girl has schizophrenia, and I cry because it is not going to mend like other broken things. It is so hard to accept. Years have gone by to no avail. I must find ways to accept with grace.

It is definitely not a disease I would wish on anyone, mental illness causes so much heartbreak for not only those who suffer but those who love them. My boy has only been diagnosed with Anxiety and depression but his anger issues make me wonder if it is more. Reaching out like this for the first time I think will help me with the extra burden of loving him so much but not being able to mend his hurt. Thank you for reaching out.
