Hi all,

I made this account in order for me to share some personal experiences whilst also giving and receiving support where necessary 🙂

Okay well i'm 17 years old and from Australia. I've suffered from severe anxiety pretty much my whole life and when I was 14 I was also diagnosed with an eating disorder, depression, OCD and other mental illnesses. I've been inpatient twice but hopefully never again because it was the worst experience of my life, although I met some of the most amazing people!

I'm currently on my road to recovery and do currently get treatment from a clinic/hospital although it isn't always available to me so hopefully by making this account I can meet some new people experiencing similar things whilst also receiving and giving the best support I possibly can. It's a pleasure to be part of this community and I can't wait to get started!

Thank you 🙂

Welcome healing me!

Thanks for your thoughtful and honest post!

I'm a 23 year old female, was diagnosed with OCD at 13 (which I still have), had mild depression in my early teens, and developed an atypical eating disorder at 19. Like you, I was an inpatient (two months for the eating disorder). I also met some really caring, amazing people. It was emotionally difficult, and I'm glad that the eating disorder is behind me now!

It's great that you're receiving two sources of professional treatment. I received in-home appointments with an outpatient nurse after my hospital stay, which really helped my recovery. Hopefully you also have the support of your family 🙂

It's nice to meet you, and hopefully I'll hear from you again 🙂

Best wishes,

SM

Dear Healing Me

Hello and welcome to Beyond Blue. It's always lovely to hear from people who are willing to share their experiences. You will find many threads where you can join in the conversation and add your perspective on the topic. If you want to open your own thread on a particular topic, please feel free. I suggest you check other threads first as having similar threads from different people tends to reduce the number of responses you will receive.

I look forward to reading more posts from you.

Thank you SM! It's so glad to hear from someone that has successfully recovered from their ED, unfortunately i'm still struggling but I know what I want and i'm striving for that. Thanks again for all your support - i'm here whenever 🙂

Hi,

Welcome! I think it was very brave of you to share your story 😊 Also, I think you should be proud of yourself for getting help, and I hope that you continue treatment at the clinic/hospital. And yes, let's all support each other here!
