Hi em996,

sorry to hear you are feeling so anxious. It’s not a nice feeling at all. Some natural things that may help and mindfulness/meditation, exercise. Something that you find fun. Could be going for a bike ride, or putting some music on and dancing. There’s a really good channel on YouTube (the fitness marshal.) it’s a lot of fun and might help. There’s also lots of yoga videos on YouTube.

if your anxiety is affecting your sleep, you could try listening to some sleep meditation/hypnosis (also on YouTube) Michael Sealy is good. Or some calming/relaxing music.

you might also be eligible for a mental health care plan from your GP. Entitled to upto 10 psychology sessions a year.

I hope this is helpful. All the best!

Hi em996,

Welcome to the forums and thank you for being here. I can see that It'sgonnabeok has already offered you some great support already.

One resource I thought that I'd link to is a guide from Beyond Blue about things that help with anxiety. I'm sharing this one because it covers lots of different types of things to try including natural remedies. It also rates them to see if any studies have been done to see how helpful they are. If you do try some natural remedies though please check with your GP just to see if they interact with the meds that you are on.

I hope this is helpful! It would be great to hear what things you end up trying and how much of a difference it makes.

Hi em996,

If you're looking for advice you've come to the right place! This forum is full people who have/had anxiety and are open to share what has worked/not worked for them. It must be frustrating to feel like you shouldn't be things anxious and you are not alone!

Like It’sgonnabeok said, Mindfulness can be a really useful technique and the Smilingmind app https://www.smilingmind.com.au/ can be a great way to get started. It may seem like a really hard exercise to start, but the key is persistence. Our anxious brain can get so used to falling into anxious thoughts that it takes some practice for it to start leaning to those calm/productive thoughts. Mindfulness is about giving our mind power to stop ruminating on those anxious thoughts and choosing to let them go (I know, sounds like a dream, but's its definitely worked for a lot of anxious people).

Are you getting any help from a therapist/friend at the moment? Sometimes we need someone else to help us think about things in a new way and a psychologist can bring in new exercises to try. There is many different methods, so don't feel discouraged if one isn't working for you!

Feel free to jump back on here to let us know how things are for you or call the Beyondblue helpline 24/7 on 1300 22 4636.
