Hi all,

So, I won’t go into complete detail about my mental illnessness because it started when I was only 11 years old and I am now 23 years old so as you can imagine, a tremendous amount of things have happened and gone on throughout the years.

I’m hoping to get online support here as I’m hopeless at speaking on the phone. I do have a psychiatrist who I see fortnightly but honestly it’s not enough for me. I need additional help and support. I’m unable to leave my house by myself and it has been this way for many years now. I don’t have friends and I’m also an introvert so it doesn’t really bother me about not being social in person.

My family are also not helpful or supportive and they also suffer from mental illnesses, so basically I’ve been alone with myself for a long time.

I’m a 23 year old female living in Melbourne, VIC. My nickname on here is Humancat95

So yeah.. Not much else to say for now about myself or whatever.

Thanks for reading this 🙂

Hello Humancat, and a warm welcome to the forums.

It's never easy to post a comment on a site where you don't know anyone but pleased you have because you're no different to a lot of us when we started.

If your family is suffering from some type of mental illness, then it also maybe difficult to know what they can do to help you, and it's not their fault, nor it is yours.

12 years for you to try and cope with this illness is far too long because all you do is go around and around in circles, one day feeling a little bit better, pretending that you are OK when in fact it's only a pretence, to finally locking yourself up in your bedroom.

This must have been such a lonely period for you to struggle through school with all the pressure on you, but what I'd like to pick out of your comment is 'that a tremendous amount of things have happened and gone on throughout the years.'

If you would like to tell us in a way that suits you, about what has happened, then we can start to help you.

Please know that no one knows you and you are talking to many different people who have also had to try and cope with their own type of depression.

We want to help you as much as we can.

Best wishes.

Geoff.
