Hi I'm Ellie.
I'm a Mum of one. I have always struggled with anxiety and depression, however it is getting worse. I have been sick for the past 4 years now and alas they finally found the cause which is great but I have to have both of my breasts removed. It's all I can think about. I can't sleep even on medication. I don't work at the moment due to my illness. I have been trying to exercise and do self help but it doesn't seem to be helping. And I guess I joined here because I don't feel like anyone I talk to at home is benefitting me in any way. I feel lucky because there are people worse off than me but the anxiety and depression just won't leave. Sorry, it's so gloomy. That's just my life and how it is I guess. Thank you listening to me. I appreciate your time!!

Hi Ellie.
Wecome to BB. I'm an guest here which means occasionally I'll try my very best to encourage others in despair though far from perfect.
Am, oh so sorry to hear about your sad health situation.
No, you're not gloomy, just being open + honest about your medical concerns which is absolutely devastating.
Oftentimes it's best to chat with a total stranger than an family member even though they do try their very best to help + encourage as well.
But when it comes to these delicate issues All in the family are Also affected in one way or another.
Having that sort of news Does bring on anxiety + depression.
May I please ask you a question if you feel comfortable in answering? Is it the big "C" you're dealing with? or something else? Remember please, only answer if you comfortable chatting with me.
We're here is help you to overcome any fears or uncertainties.
BB has many fine resources available.
Take Care
Regards
Chikkenleggs

Hello Ellie, I really want to thank you for posting your comment, I know how difficult this must have been for you, and I'm sure there were times when you wanted to post it but decided to delete it instead, it takes enormous strength wanting to talk with someone you don't know, that's understandable, but can I convey my deepest sympathy.
You may say that there are other people worse off than you, and yes, probably there are, but that's not the point, because what we are doing is replying to you, now that's what is more important to look after you.
I'm really devastated that you are also struggling with anxiety and depression but can fully understand why this is happening, but please remember none of this is any fault of yours and how sorry I feel for you.
It's so good you have taken the trust we offer to people in any circumstances, but I also hope that you have been directed towards talking to a psychologist who I have always found to be more sympathetic when I was in depression, compared to the 2 psychiatrists I first visited.
I don't want to ask you any questions because that's not becoming of me at this point.
You have my full compassion and would love to hear back from you.
Geoff.
