Hello. I'm Enju

I thought I would join this forum.. as.. talking to a doctor about any of this terrifies me. Which is an irrational fear, I know. But eh, cannot be helped.

I guess this is more an introduction thread as apposed to a help me thread. I'll post that in a more appropriate section.

My alias is Enju. I'm 23. Studying my first year at uni. I work a part time job, and another casual job. I read books when I have spare time. I also play a reasonable amount of video games when I'm not swamped with uni work, which is hardly ever anymore.

I always prefer online interaction because I get a little flustered in social situations. More than a little I guess.. heh.

I hope that I can help a few others here.. and maybe in return I will be able to help myself also.

So. uh Hi! Nice to meet you. I'm Enju.

hi Enju, welcome to the the site and pleased to have you join us.
Talking with the people who are able to help us, or talking to people who are our friends about what we are scared of talking about can be frightening, so online communication is always a great way to say what you want to.
I wonder whether your irrational fear is linked to having OCD plus it seems as though you have social anxiety, both of these I can't diagnose as I'm not qualified, however as most of us have had or experienced these systems we are able to know what you are are struggling with.
We would love to help you and in return I'm sure you are able to give some guidance and advice to others, so we hope to hear back from you. Geoff.

Hi Enju,

Welcome to the forum!

I'm 23 too, and also studying at uni. I volunteer, but don't have any paid work. I also read in my spare time, especially during the uni summer holidays.

I used to get really self-conscious in social situations, but that started improving several years ago. If your fears and anxieties are bothering you, you could visit your doctor (GP). They can give you advice and refer you to someone if necessary. You can access resources here (The facts on the blue menu bar), and this site is reliable too: http://www.cci.health.wa.gov.au/resources/consumers.cfm

If you'd like to talk to other young people, you are welcome to join the Friends Café in the Young People forum section: https://www.beyondblue.org.au/get-support/online-forums/young-people/friends-cafe/page/7#qk7_BXHzvGGEbv8AAOnT_A

It's great to meet you!

Best wishes,

SM

hello and many thanks for your reply 🙂

I've looked up OCD before and I really don't think it's something I have. I mean.. I'm neat.. but only some of the time and don't have any issues with checking things a million times :3 I'm fine in public as long as I'm not by myself, like I can hang out with a friend and not feel weird but as soon as I'm by myself I get in and get out of whereever I'm going (shops, uni, wherever) so it could be a thing I guess.

so yeah. Thank you! and I hope you have a nice day :3

Hello SM :3

I wouldn't recommend a second job while in uni. It's horrendous. xD
I will admit, I'm kinda a bit freaked out to go talk to my GP about mental issues, physical ones, sure thing, mental.. ehh.. :S ..
Thanks for the links to the extra resources, and I might pop into the forum section to say hello, see how we go :3
Thankyou and i hepe you have a lovely day!
