Hello everyone

Hi all... I have posted a topic in Anxiety forum but being new here just wanted to say a general hello as well... last year for me has been a massive struggle and I feel very alone most of the time. I am a single mum to a 5 year old, 100% care. I work full-time and feel like I am just holding everything together by a thread sometimes. I hope just reaching out to the forums here will be a bit of a help in some way. I know there is help available, but to be honest I find that difficult to believe sometimes. I have a really good doctor, but she is hard to get into. I have seen many psychologists...my current one, even with the mental health plan costs about $140 a session... and for any benefit I find I need to see them at least fortnightly and it all just adds up.

Anyway... just wanted to say hi and hopefully my journey is going to start to improve soon, as well as everyone else's who are struggling.

Welcome to the forums Kayelle!

You wrote >> "hopefully my journey is going to start to improve soon.."
It already has!
You joined up HERE, so you're well on your way to excellent mental HEALTH if you choose.

Congratulations on your beautiful child, how awesome is that! I LOVE KIDS! lol. Have a ton myself.

It was right about then (decades ago now lol) that I found the most beautiful books to help me get on track with my emotions and, well, EVERYTHING lol.
For my babies and me, "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Families" by Stephen Covey was freaking brilliant lol.
For my career, "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People" same author.

After reading these and putting everything he outlined into ACTION wow, EVERYTHING sky rocketed lol, I had to hold tight to stay on the ride!
Had a crazy diversion of marrying a not right person again lol. That's all good, he's gone now :-))

Please know that daily, even ALL day, practicing SELF-CARE and GRATITUDE are massive changes you can make with POSITIVE dividends in return.
We have 2 threads about these.

I'm better than awesome now. You can USE this time to prepare for your AMAZING life ahead.
Beginning now.

Thank you so much for your kind replies. It really helps in not feeling so alone.

EM - thank you for the book recommendations. I will check those out. I think practicing self-care is something I have lost focus of in the last year. My mind has gotten so wrapped up in everything else going on, and when I sit down and stop I find instead of doing something for myself I tend to worry about what has happened or what might happen, or what needs to be done, and that time I had to myself is suddenly wasted. Definitely something to be mindful of.

Hi Kayelle17,

Welcome to the forums! I hope are feeling okay today. I am sorry you have been struggling with anxiety, that must be really hard. It is difficult when the psychologist sessions cost so much, it sure creates an access barrier. If you need immediate help you can call the Beyond Blue hotline on 1300 224 636. I hope you find the forums helpful!

I hope things improve soon,

Jaz xx
