Hi all, I am 33 year old Mama of 2. I have had anxiety for probably most of my life, but have been really struggling with it for the last 6 years. I have been on medication for 3 years and have recently come off the medication and focusing on diet, excercise and therapy.

Hi CJ,

Just wanted to give you a welcome to the forums. How are you finding managing your anxiety?

We have a subsection here specifically for anxiety - https://www.beyondblue.org.au/get-support/online-forums/anxiety

and also for keeping well - https://www.beyondblue.org.au/get-support/online-forums/staying-well

Feel free to have a browse and post again, or even just have a read and be reminded that you're not alone in this.

Hello CJ

I saw some great advice you gave on another thread..thankyou and well said too!

It takes a lot of strength to come off the meds and good on you for focusing on therapy exercise and diet. I have had severe anxiety for many years and understand where you are coming from. If I can ask you.....what was the reason you came off the meds? Just interested as I have spent so many years with anxiety I may learn something new:-)

You have great strength to post CJ. You have a great attitude too!

You are more than welcome to post as many times as you wish. There are many super kind people on the forums that can be here for you without judgement..just for support.

My Kind Thoughts for you

Thank you Paul!

I think I decided to go off them for a number of reasons and not all of them the rights ones in hindsight.

I thought that if I could go off them and be ok I could then say that I HAD anxiety and not HAVE anxiety. Also was struggling to lose weight (despite training so hard) and the medication was contributing to that.

I was so sure that if I followed all "the rules" that I wouldn't need the medication anymore. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to be the case and I have been discussing with my GP going back on them.

It is really tough to make that final step though.......kind of feel like I failed. I eat reasonably healthy, avoid alcohol and train 5 times a week and it still can't keep on top of it.
