I have this constant feeling that nothing I do is ever enough in life and it’s putting a physical and mental toll on me. I always put a lot of effort into everything I do especially uni work wise but my marks don’t reflect it and everyone keeps telling me I need to try harder do better but I work myself sick as it is. Even in my day to day life I’m getting told to be more outgoing and maybe I’ll actually get a date or put more effort into making sure everyone else is okay even when I can’t handle their issues on top of my own. Does anyone else have this feeling and if so how do you cope because I’m not and I barely recognise myself any more

Hi Wildatheart,
welcome to beyond blue.
I don't know (and not asking) what sort of grades you were/are getting at Uni, but I was/am (currently on hold) studying part time at Uni and my marks were good. However if saw a red mark on my paper I would see this as failure. For me, this is perfectionism and I see a psychologist periodically to about things.
Have you been able to talk to someone about how you feel? Family or friends?
Have you considered talking a counsellor or similar at Uni? They might be able to give you advice as to what action to take, and you would also be able to talk about whatever else concerns you.
As for coping, we all have different ways of dealing with it. What works for me, might not work for you and vice versa. There are also apps you can install onto your phone. If you are interested I can give you the names of the ones recommended to me by my psychologist. There are also threads on grounding, mindfulness elsewhere on the forums here.
Please know that you are not alone, and there are people who care about you and listen to you. I hope to hear from you soon, and learn a little more about you.
Peace and comforting thoughts,
Tim
