Drowning

I feel like I’m drowning and everyone is watching but no ones trying to save me. I’m struggling to be here, I want to drift away. I can’t escape this emotional roller coaster of my life.

Hi Nicky, welcome

Im 61yo, I spent most of my life not knowing that my emotional issues were treatable.

Id go in a 6-10 week cycle, just long enough not to realise it was a cycle. In 2003 i was misdiagnosed then in 2008 my world improved when a clever psych diagnosed my with dysthymia among other things like bipolar2

You wont believe the difference. Apart from meds, therapy and some homework like identifying your triggers all amount to a package of treatment that will slowly get you stable.

So begin by a GP visit and crutially get a diagnosis.

hello Nicky, on most occasions people don't know what to do to help you or what to say, they may try at the beginning but as they don't see any change in you that's when they give up, it's only if they have suffered from depression themselves, then they absolutely know what sort of pain you are going through.
It is painful when they turn their backs on you but this is when you should go and visit your doctor a.s.p.they will start the ball rolling, firstly by prescribing medication and then referring you onto a psychologist, if this happens then ask them about the mental health plan, this will entitle you to 10 free visits.
You can't overcome this by yourself, it's virtually impossible, you need help beginning with your GP, so I really want you to make an appointment, and please let me know how you are going. Geoff.

Hi Nicky,

I hope you are looking at getting the help you need. Just remember when you feel alone you are never alone there are people out there that have felt the way you do right now. I always thought my mental health problems were hormonal until I read a book called Mindfulness for life, this was my light bulb moment. Once I realised that my experiences were not all hormonal I sought the help I needed and have never looked back.

Stay positive.
