My son is going through the process of diagnosis for ASD. His anxiety and mine seem to track each other in their ups and downs. It's so hard at home where no-one sees but I feel so judged when w are out and about. I feel your pain. My son is only 5 though. How old is your kid/s?

Hi Breezy,
Welcome to the forums and thanks for sharing your situation with us. It is extremely brave and courageous of you to open up to us and you should be extremely proud of that. It is not easy to do! Please feel free to post as much or as little as possible and know we will be here for you to listen and talk about any issues or concerns which your are experiencing.
How old are your children and are the behaviour problems extremely serious (trouble at school and with the authorities) or more so a lack of respect and attitude problems around the home? I believe it is important to understand that children these days and the way they act is so different to even 10-20 years ago when I was growing up. Have you sought out professional support to assist you and your children with your concerns?
Have you seen your GP or consulted a health professional about your anxiety? Anxiety is normal but it starts to become a serious problem when it is effecting your daily activities and overall emotional well-being and quality of life. If you feel like it is having a serious detrimental impact on your life, please see your GP and he will provide you with so much useful information. I would also discuss with him if medication would be appropriate for your situation and whether a mental health care plan which will provide you with access to 10 free psychologist sessions is applicable to your situation.
I can tell you are extremely resilient and your concerns and situation is so so so normal these days so don't be so harsh on yourself and stay as strong and as positive as possible. Positive mindset and thoughts often leads to positive outcomes.
Hope this helped and look forward to hearing from you again soon.
All the best,
Nick.

Hi there. My 6yo has ASD and I have a neurotypical 5yo. I don't know if my situation is anything like yours but I would suggest looking for support groups. There's one on Facebook for parents of kids with ADD, ASD, ADHD, ODD - if that sounds relevant to you a search should bring it up on FB. I would say that the most important thing to do in order to cope is to look after yourself and be kind to yourself. After all, you are crucial to this situation so don't be afraid to ask for help. It would help to know what issues you are dealing with.
