Neurofeedback (retraining the brain)

Hi all,

Does anyone out there have any experience with Neurofeedback? It's a technique that can be used to reduce anxiety, depression and the effects of trauma through retraining the brain.

I have done a lot of research into Neurofeedback and based on this, I believe that this technique may help me with some long term issues.

I start my Neurofeedback work in 2 days so I'll let you all know how it goes. Wish me luck!

Jeza

Hi there Jeza

Thank you for coming here and providing this post.

And YES, I do wish you heaps of luck and positive results with this technique.

I’d imagine it’d be like most other “helping options” – no matter what we choose, there’s never any overnight and instant success involved – but I hope that this goes as well for you as you would like and that it will go a long way toward to being of a big benefit for you.

I’ll be very interested to hear how it goes for you and what feedback you may be able to provide.

Best of luck

Neil

Hi Jeza,

I have a close friend who has CPTSD and has been having neurofeedback for approximately 6 months. She said it has been really helpful as it has helped her train her brain to refocus and improve her attention to things other than her trauma. She said it's also really good because it is quantitative as the therapist can see the changes in the EEG waves over time.

I have an appointment myself in a couple of weeks time to see if it can help me.

How did it go for you?

Cheers 🙂

Hi Jeza

It looks like we started our neuro around the same time. How are you finding it?

I have already started to notice a significant improvement in my anxiety. I am so grateful I have given it a go!

Hi,

has anyone had any sideeffects like panic attacks, feeling pain worse or vomiting ( linked to panic attacks). If so will it pass?

thanks

Hi SunSeeker/Jeza,

Curious to see if you would be able to share your progress/experience re neurofeedback?

my 8 years old son went for ADHD treatment and after the first report they have suggested to treat his anxiety and stress, he was getting better for the first 5 weeks then he started getting episodes of funny feeling, as he describes (ask us to give him a hug, and get quiet and it last upto 2 mins, he describes as scary), he had 6 episodes, in the last 2 weeks, it worth mentioning that he wets his bed and he often watches unguided parental channel like youtube, and rodblocks, and he often ask us to put him to sleep since he is afraind to get a nightmare.
