I passed out last night - medication issue?

So I was having a bad night last night with anxiety and depression so decided to take one of my tablets that help me sleep that has been prescribed to me and have take. Before with no issues.

I went to bed and fell asleep ok but about an hour or so later I woke with a start and not feeling good.

i got up to go to the toilet and as I got to the doorway things become unclear, I just remember calling out to my husband and next thing I know I am coming to with him holding my head and I'm shivering because I'm on the cold tiles, I'm also feeling like throwing up.

I have tried to remember what happened but can't.

Its now 5:39am and I'm so very tired but have woken up feeling anxious. I'm not sure what to do . I am meant to be going to work today working with children, I know this would help take my mind off things but don't like how I'm feeling.

Hey There!

If I was in your position I think I would take the day off work and visit the doctor and explain what happened.

Most likely nothing but always worth checking out and having a rest day after something scary like that!

Hope you're doing well today

dear Molly, this maybe more serious than you think and urge you to ring or go and see your doctor, if you can get in and sometimes it is best that you vomit and bring up what maybe causing the trouble, not pleasant to say so I'm sorry.
Can I ask you a question and what I ask you is not because I know, I don't and only guessing here but have you had any seizures before, because the degree of any fit can vary so much, and please excuse me if I'm well off the mark here. Geoff. x

Hi Molly,

Sorry to hear what you have been through, that is quite uncomfortable. There is some good advice above from Moshniki and Geoff, you should get a check up based on what happened. The other thing I would recommend is trying to recall what else you may have had in your system prior to taking the sleeping pill - vitamins, other prescription meds, alcohol, anything specifically you ate etc. It is important to know what the sleep meds may have interacted with so you don't have to experience this again.

Also, just because you have taken the sleep meds prior without the same effect, does not mean this time around you will not get a different result. It could be an accumulation of the sleep meds in your system, over time, that may have impacted you this time even though the single dose was the same. This specifically happened to me many years ago - three nights in a row of medication, with nights 1 and 2 fine, but after night 3, the depression I had (due to the meds) on day 4 was absolutely brutal. It passed, but clearly it was a day to day accumulation that did this to me at the time. Needless to say, I had to fix my sleep problem naturally after that! 🙂

Please let us know how you go, and monitor what you are putting into your system and how they may interact. All the best to you.

Hi,

i haven't taken this in over a month so don't think it would be a build up of the medication, I am on antibiotics though so unless that had some reaction? I'm on my way to gp now, they want to check my blood pressure but I'm sure that's fine.

I've felt exhausted all day but I think that's due to my night .

I couldnt get in to see my normal gp though which I was hoping to do so I could talk through what's going on with me.

Antibiotics + _________ (you name it) can have very odd effects on your body. You may be onto something here. What did the doctor say?
