How to restart a prescription?

kino03
Community Member

I’ve been diagnosed with ADHD for the last 5 or so years and was medicated until about a year ago or so. I’m now an adult and want to restart my medication but really don’t want my parents involved in the process, but I don’t know how I’d go about restarting my prescription again.

Would really appreciate if anyone could tell me where I can start the process

Hello kino, as you are an adult then your parents don't need to know when you see your doctor and discuss you continuing the medication.

If you are living at home, then hide it somewhere they can't find it, although they shouldn't be looking anyway and if need be go to another pharmacy where your parents don't go, then they won't be told.

As an adult it's your decision as well as what your doctor advices.

Hi kino03,

Sure- so you can go to the same 'prescriber' (GP/specialist) to get a new script.  If you're concerned about the confidentiality (i.e. family doctor), you can look at seeing someone else.  Is there something in particular you are worried or unsure about?
