Binge eating disorder?

anon143

I am off to seek advice from my gp tomorrow as I suspect I suffer from a binge eating disorder & have for a few years.

What are some ways to work through this? I’m not 100% sure if that is what I’m going through but my online research about binge eating seems to relate to my unhealthy relationship with food. I feel it may all just be in my head but I am on a journey to a healthier & happier me, starting with my health as I’m mainly focusing on losing weight a healthy way.

Hello anon143,

It is good that you are already going to talk to your GP about the situation, they will help you determine a healthy volume to be eating and will have recommendations for support lines that focus more of eating disorder support as well.

If you can get into the habit of diarising your eating habits and the events of the day/week you may be able to find a correlation between when you do over indulge in food and the triggers. Remember you can't control what happens in the whole world, but you can control what your response to that is.

Getting healthier overall as a goal is great, the mind and body are interwoven, improving one will help the other.

You are setting yourself up for kicking goals in 2021.

Keep at it.

Hey anon,

That's awesome. I have a pretty bad relationship with food too, and it's a big challenge.

I hope it goes well, and I wish you good luck. I don't think it's all in your head.

Wish you the best,

C.

Thank you very much 💗

Hi anon143, how did your appt with your GP go? I've had binge eating disorder in the past and had support from a HAES aligned psychologist and dietician.

The Butterfly Foundation might be able to give you some support/direction as well.
