I have been caring and living with someone for the last 17 years who suffers with bipolar.her last major breakdown was ten years ago and is currently going thru a minor one but has a lot of physical problems occuring due to this. After repeditive visits have lost faith in our medical services and getting very frustrated and tiered while running out of options, while having no friends and semi interested family for help not sure what my next move is,i now this is a brief description but any suggestions of any sought would be welcome

Hi Creed, welcome

Not easy is it. Although your partner has mental struggles there is a bare minimum that is expected of her. You don't suggest she is not pulling her weight around the home and responsibilities though. Carers have down times also. If you think she is lacking in helping you out you can google this - "Topic: who cares for the carer- beyondblue"

Try contacting your local medical centre for any support groups in your area.

As for medical support, you cant give up. Regular visits to her GP is essential. A change of medication is always a possibility.

Thanks WK

There is so much to say and explain but i just needed to reach out and start talking about these issues as i basically have no one talk to about them,i guess i allways thought i was superman and could handle anyrhing but as time has passed im tiring quickly,i will look for a local support group and see how it goes,we are going thru meds adjustments at the moment and hopefully goes well
