Not liking his medications

Hi there

Just wondering if anyone can help me, I have finally managed to convince my husband to goto a doctore (has taken 10 years) he suffers badly from anxiety and depression.  He has just started taking medication, but he said he hates them and makes him feel very strange.  I suggested that he lessens the dose and goes back to the doctor, but am very worried that he just stops taking them altogether, am not sure what I can do to help...

Hello Daisy, medications do come with side effects that can be particularly noticeable when you first start taking them. If he is worried about these, he needs to go back to the doctor, lessening the dose without supervision, or even worse, stopping them altogether will make him feel very unwell.

Another important thing to remember is that medication is not a magic solution for anxiety and depression, psychological or counselling help is often required also. Did the doctor put your husband onto a mental health care plan, or was it just pills and out the door?
