What is your biggest (non mental health condition) achievement?

Was watching, "The Voice" last night and there was a young lass who didn't leave the house for two years because of panic attacks, how here she is on National TV singing in front of four judges.

I sat back and thought that even if no one turns around and picks her, she has already won - what a brilliant achievement that was.

What is your biggest achievement?

Mine is overcoming PTSD and functioning quite well but the mental health conditions aside, I would have to say completing my first marathon. A pure punishment of the mind and body and I completed this in the early days of my recovery when i was quite wounded and struggling.

To be able to push myself to complete it gave me a massive burst of confidence that I can overcome the PTSD beast and get on with life.

Quirky, I think if Wayne was not a football player, he wouldn't be as well know as what he is now on the mental health front. He would certainly be an "up and comer" in the breaking stigma scene but his profile and be able to talk about it on radio and tv certainly helps.

I look at the famous and well know people who have brought mental health into the minds of millions by using their name and stature and I think, thank you. Thank you for helping those that do not have a voice and bringing this debilitating illnesses and injuries to the forefront.

Thank you for the words - appreciate it heaps.

Hey Mark

Its not my 'biggest' but one of my achievements..but caring for K9's is important to me..Someone has to give them a voice even when 'humans' forget how painful fire crackers are on New Years Eve to a K9

30 Years of dedicated dog (K9) rescue and proud of it 🙂

I used to follow the footy and many people consider some of the players hero's. They arent.....Nurses... Mica Paramedics.... Law Enforcement officers and Community volunteers are.

However....Quirky mentioned Wayne Schwass the AFL player....I dont really know who he is but kudos to him. He has done very well to use his public profile to d-stigmatize this dreadful illness.

This is a terrific positive thread topic Mark

Paul, one of my pet hates, and bold/italic/underline pet (i.e. a huge hate) is when sportspeople and commentators say that those teams went to war, absolutely unacceptable talk that is. Getting payed hundreds of thousands of dollars to play a game is not the same as being shot at, so yes i fully agree with your "hero" statement.

That is awesome what you have done for the dogs. 30 years - that is a whole lot of dedication. Brilliant stuff.

I have some mates who are into pet rescue and without a doubt i will never buy a pet from a pet shop again, it will be a rescue pup that is for sure.

I have a tonne of respect for Wayne as he is using his profile to raise awareness and prevent suicide. Really powerful about it and is getting some of his high profile mates on board. Real value there.

Hey Mark,

As you know I am in the learning process of how all this works.

You have become a soft spot,(sounds crap) of mine. You are here for everyone and that is so inspiring. I don't know how to follow all your posts and don't even want to. Blah blah bla.

Are you ok? Not everyone else. YOU?

9NL, thanks heaps for checking up on me, that is a really nice thing to do.

Yes thankyou, I am fine. I was very lucky in that I recovered quite well however I still have my bad days but I have learnt to handle them. My worst days now were my best days 12 months ago and I remember that. I am just very grateful to be in the space that I am.

How are you going?

Mark.

Hey Mark,

I am doing ok,just a bit mixed up on here, I still don't get around things very well and honestly I don't want this to take over my mind, I want and need the friendships.

There is so much to tell and for me to say it all the right way. Like I might post something but there is so much more to it.

sorry ,you are so positive now, but yet there are many stories you hide, and that's ok. I don't want praise and glory, I am just trying to sort myself out,to help me and my family.

And of course I love to help people

For my 30th my hubby had a surprise bus to the vineyards, but there was a detour to

SKYDIVING 😱

I did it! Because I was tired to some dudes back, other wise the is no flying way I could jump by myself.

Oh the free fall was absolutely amazing,so peaceful I flew like a bird,(with an appe on my back)

Landing was heaps of fun,I was so proud I did it
