I like to eat, however if you have no self control you could go a bit overboard, like I did, and become overweight. you could also watch a movie, like a really happy one or something, like holes (I know it's a children's movies but it's some good stuff). you could also go out with some friends like do some shopping or something, if you are overweight this may make you even more depressed (advice from experience, because isn't authority one of the greatest ways of knowing?). or you could read a book. or play some video games. Or if you go onto the website of the city you live in there might be some free event (or not free event) happening that looks interesting, you could go there with some friends. you could also go to the toilet, I find the toilet a very relaxing place (not in the toilet - that's disgusting). Or you could just curl into a ball on the floor and wait for the meds to kick in but that's a bit boring.

anyway I hope this helped.

good luck

I try to keep busy and be in public places. Go for a coffee - even in maccas, feels like you have a purpose then.

Hi Anneabell

If you've been taking tablets and simply forgot to take them over a couple of days, then now you're back on them, it shouldn't take too long before they start getting back into your system again.

In the meantime, there's been some good suggestions already provided to you - and some others might be:

*   listening to some of your favourite music - stay away from the love songs perhaps, but go for the more uplifting kinds of tunes;

*  have you got a pet?   They can be so beneficial to help you through certain periods of a bad day - I'm a massive dog lover - and dogs just have a 6th sense and can pick up sad feelings and will rally beside you and be there for you.

*  not sure if you're into exercise at all - but a jog, a bike ride or if you're a gym goer, a good sesh at the gym - any of those kinds of exercises can promote the endorphins in the body and they therefore create a 'feel good' mood within the body.

Again, I hope this has helped;

Neil

Hi anneabell,

Your right it can be pretty tough waiting for meds to take affect, and in the beginning they can make us feel worse before better.

Some of the things ive tried in the past are:

Being around children - innocent play can make me feel like there are no expectations

Walking through a park or botanical garden and really paying attention to the trees, leaves, flowers and appreciate the beauty and simplicity of nature

Getting someone to cook my favourite food so not only can I eat it but the smell fills my home, muffins, cakes, lasagne are pretty good for this

Having a really long shower or bath and using beautifully scented shower gel followed by bod moisturiser

During this time I also let my partner, friend, or relative know that I might be feeling off so I can rely on them to help cheer me up if necessary.

All the best, hang in there
