I have been struggling eating and eating healthy foods over the last couple of weeks. I really do not want to go back further to how I use to eat, that is eating junk food, takeaways, copious amounts of chocolate, processed junk and comfort eating.
Finding it challenging to stay motivated to actually prepare what I know helps me feel better mentally, emotionally and physically. Plus I have been feeling overwhelmed with other stuff happening in my life, which somehow makes it more challenging. The old unhealthy comfort eating thing is coming back. And I think I am getting concerned and scared about that. I so much do not want to go back to how I use to be. I was so sick. Plus I now have some physical things not right in my body , so I need to be more careful and mindful of what I eat. ( Pre cancer cells , high blood pressure )
I was eating really well since Febuary of this year, it’s just the last couple of weeks I haven’t.
So I would like to use this thread to help me be accountable to Beyond Blue people. So like a diary where I can post and report what I eat. And also any healthy eating tips, motivating strategies to help eat better or anything related to healthy eating for our bodies including our mental health.

Hi Shelll
ur doing well there good on u
potatoes sound yum
i have a sweet potato, sometimes I make chips with them with just avocado oil and salt - i love potatoes and sweet potato, and specially in salad.
Tday I had a wrap with scrambled eggs and a chai and some red grapes -that's about all so far. Not much food in the kitchen atm so just having leftovers
last night had some lovely green beans with feta, they were pretty yum. And a coconut milk hot cocoa. I just put in coconut milk, cacao powder and a bit of maple syrup.

I hope you don't feel too terrible about eating KFC chips and rolls and TV snack biscuits.
I let myself get away with some unhealthy foods.
Like today. I had a day out with family and I ate what they ate. We ordered different ciders, a cheese/meat board and later had apple pie and ice cream.
I didn't overfill myself. And that's my secret to losing weight and staying healthy.
And now I've had spinach and cheese ravioli with veg and a salad.
I was hungry when I ate this and still quite hungry. I eat just enough so I'm hungry a few hrs later.
My mum has been doing intermittent fasting. And so are so many ppl also doing the weight loss challenge so I looked into it. I did my research and it has a lot of positive benefits. Therefore I did it from last night until 11am. I didn't eat for that time.
Anyhow there's lots of different health/ wellness things out there and you just have to find what works for you.
My brother on the other hand is eating a lot of meat now. That's what he thinks is best for his body. He's been listening to podcasts from cardiologists and other qualified ppl. He too swears by intermittent fasting.
I'm a fan of your food consumption Sleepy. That all sounds pretty good.
Happy eating everyone!

Yeah I do regret eating the KFC chips and there rolls. The chocolates biscuits even more so. Just got to pick myself up again. Totally not good for my body personally.
And also another yeah about the intermittent fasting. I have done that quite a bit. And I also have done water only fasting for days. The longest for 14 days. It was not for weight loss, but rather for helping my body to heal. Like it gets a rest from digestion and then can focus on healing itself. You have to know what you are doing though, so you do it safely. The extended fasting that is.
And yes I agree there is a ton of stuff out there regarding health and wellness. It is a challenge to know who to believe.
People that choose to eat keto (maybe that is your brother) are definitely into intermittent fasting. My understanding of keto is the folks don't use carbohydrates as there energy source. I am personally very cautious of that. You may well loose lots of weight. And people have. But it just does not sit right with me.

Yes, he was saying he was living in a state of ketosis and was using his fat for energy.
I personally (no offence anyone) would find eating heaps of meat everyday so hard and horrible to do.
I need my seafood, my veg, my fruit, my calcium....I need variety. I think I thrive on variety.
Here's to getting back on track Shell. You know how those foods make you feel afterwards so steer clear.
Pre- planning for the day could help.
Did fasting help you heal?

hi all
i'm not so into keto myself
i do think eating protein is good for us and i notice i eat less of it when i'm not well and focussed.... so trying to bring back those good fats into my diet - avacado, nuts and fish particularly
i guess everyone's different with diff goals. I'm like you monks and i need variety I think - to mix it up a bit and feel full. I don't know much about keto though just had a friend who did it

Hey all
Yay to carrot juice, yay to those cute emojis lol
Had a berry smoothie today with skim milk and yoghurt
a chai
didn't eat much at all
Haven't gone shopping so it's weird-meal-city as I don't have a lot of basics like olive oil, cheese etc
I have an edameme pasta (interesting green pasta made from vegetables) so I might make that and just top it with feta cheese which I do have
Pink lady apples
Berries
Some crackers and dip if I find some ....
I'm so grateful I am snacking more which helps me from becoming completely starving
love to all x
