We can do it BBers, we can do self-care.
Sleepy21 pointed out research that shows self-care REALLY helps!
Please share what you do for self-care so we can get inspiration, ideas and motivation to do it too.
Best wishes
EM

Hi Quirky, Blue and All,
Quirky, I hope your loved one is ok.
For me today:
1. Went to volunteer job. I’ve missed many shifts recently due to not being well so it was really nice to be there again. People were very friendly and I felt useful.
2. Had good meeting with the consultant from the employment agency I’m with. I feel like I’m being understood in relation to current health issues which really helps.
3. Had lunch with a friend and her daughter which was really nice.

Also Quirky I just wanted to say how much I loved your self care of jumping in piles of leaves. That’s so therapeutic! A favourite thing I liked to do on wet days coming home from school was jumping in as many puddles as possible! I had the excuse that I was already wet from the rain 🙂

Hi all,
Thanks, Quirky. Hope your loved one is faring better. I love the jumping in leaves thing, too, they're so fun - I like kicking them around. ER, I am heartened to hear the employment agency consultant was understanding.
My self cares:
- Went for a drive in the hills with hubby after some medical stuff, yesterday. We saw lots of kangaroos, cows, sheep, even deer, and of course lots of birds. The paddocks were green with the coming of winter, and some of the trees orange and red, readying to shed their leaves. Beautiful scenery.
- Prepared things so hubby could get up and manage on his own for a little while today, so I could have a long, restorative sleep. Really needed it.
- Made sure there was food ready for today so I don't have to cook and can get the full day of rest I need.
Kind thoughts to everyone,
Blue.

Hi Blue, Quirky and All,
That’s lovely you got to see that beautiful scenery Blue.
My self cares today:
1. Went for a walk by the river and saw dolphins, fish, gulls, terns, cormorants and pelicans. I rested on a bench in the sun.
2. I wanted to do more this afternoon but realised I was too fatigued. So I rested on my couch under a blanket and felt the fresh, gentle cross breeze between my open front door and back sliding door. It felt refreshing while I kept warm under the blanket.
3. I did some healing visualisations which helps my mind/body/spirit to feel better.

Wonderful self-cares sbella. Well done for getting your proposal in!
I had a hard day today emotionally with depression but when I look at it I was trying to self-care throughout the day. Those were:
1. Ate a healthy lentil burger for lunch.
2. Sat in a forest for a long time.
3. Got a bit enthusiastic about the possibility of starting to sing again. I’m thinking of relearning some of the songs I used to sing that I found healing in the past. I wrote my own songs too but don’t feel up to revisiting those yet. But I think I can tackle some others, maybe tonight.

Today:
Made my version of vegie pancakes for lunch, both for the vegise, & the wrmth of them. These could be a 'comfort food' for me too.
Tonight I am having my salad.
& later some tomato soup. (which is wrmth & comfort food for winter chilliness, as a snack before bed.
It's great & encouraging to see what other people are doing. Thank you all for contributing to this thread.
