We can do it BBers, we can do self-care.
Sleepy21 pointed out research that shows self-care REALLY helps!
Please share what you do for self-care so we can get inspiration, ideas and motivation to do it too.
Best wishes
EM

1. Began to sort items that I brought in from my garage weeks ago but had left in piles on my lounge room floor. Many of the things are books that belonged to my parents and I was still finding it hard to go through their things. But today it felt a bit easier and I’ve put many of them on a bookshelf. They are interesting books that I’m glad to have.
2. Went for a short walk and got fresh air and exercise.
3. Listened to two helpful podcasts on grief while doing other tasks. I feel like I’m finally making progress in processing grief that was stuck.

Apart from the usual, which is important to keep doing, I have recently:
Let go one support worker in favour of another who has certain experience with gym work & exercise,
Have decided to have another support worker return to work, one day per week, for now.
Discovered what I think was the sticking point for my PDr not being able to complete a form before the second part was filled in by someone else, & emailed the Support Co-ordinator, my PDr & the OT who has been helping me, & LET THEM KNOW. I've been very frustrated, so now I hope the form can be finally filled in. Then I'm waiting again for what might be next.
I have read back & I'm proud of what everyone is doing to care for themselves.
Hugzies all

- Researched a potential business idea I'm thinking about. Looking to how to constructively go forward with my future.
- Did quite a bit of weeding in the garden. There is still more to do tomorrow but pleased with what I achieved today. I took a couple of breaks to stay hydrated and drank some water with some lemon from my lemon tree. I am getting physically stronger at the moment but also making sure I don't overdo things.
- Practised letting go of concerns about a challenging person and feel I am succeeding at it, even though some anxieties have come up with the situation. I'm now feeling more peaceful and like I have more energy for myself.

Yesterday:
I had a long walk alongside the beach.;
Stopped to rest occasionally;
Went to bed early as I could, considering .... bad trouble here last night, so needed & took time to calm down. ... even though I knew I wanted to get up earlyish in the morning.
Today:
Gave my support worker, who is back from a long break due to illness, surgery & recovery, a real, actual hugzie;
Talked, catching her up with things which had happened, including the trouble last night, & phoned about it so the state 'landlord' knows (on record), from me too.
We went out, saw GP, then went for a long walk through lovely gardens on a mountain top & I have some good photos, with her help, which I can put up on my desktop. More to see than what we did, so it would be lovely to go there again.
One more self-care I want to do more of is: 'Drink more water, mmMekitty'! I keep havig to remind myself, so I want to make this a very firm habit, so I am not thinking - just drinking!
I will see how I go tomorrow. ...
I like what you are doing there, Quirky, ER & everyone. Well done all.

That walk sounds so lovely MK, though the gardens and to the mountain top. It sounds like it was good to reconnect with the support worker. I hope the trouble discontinues soon where you live. I know that can be really unsettling. Big Hugzies 🤗

Thank you ER. The state 'landlord' actually responded quite quickly, for a change, so I hope they can figure out who are the person/s responsible & sort out the trouble soon.
Today:
Got something the GP recommended for my foot.
Went with my new support worker to see & ask about a gym I might join instead of the one I have been going to, which is not exactly close to where I live & the cost won't be as high too. It's one of a franchise group so I want to see others under the same banner fo I could have more than one gym to visit. Since my support worker already has membership, we could both be exercising side by side. I like that idea.
I had a large lunch so I had a small salad for dinner tonight.
& I have been drinking more water today!
Hugzies everyone

Hi MK, I hope the trouble is sorted soon. Those sound like good self-cares. I also had a big lunch hence I had a small dinner too which was leftovers from yesterday.
I've just been watching a session on the Mental Health & Well-Being Global Summit and it was with Zak Williams, son of Robin Williams, and the integrative psychiatrist Raghu Appasani. I found it outstanding, their approaches to and initiatives they are involved in around mental health. They both came across as the most lovely guys who have their owned lived experience that they bring to what they do. I just thought I'd mention it as I know you have watched things to do with Robin Williams before and therefore might be interested in his son's work. It is still free to view for one day and 22 hours at mentalhealthglobalsummit.com You have to sign up with your email and then they put up an offer to buy the summit. You can just skip past that and then go to the link they send to your email and watch it. Don't feel obliged to do so, but I just thought of you. I was so sad when Robin Williams died and felt the world lost a compassionate soul, but he has clearly lived on in his son and the good work he is doing. Zak was diagnosed with complex PTSD after his father's death but has found meaningful ways to get through it with the help of his wife Olivia. And Raghu is the loveliest psychiatrist. I was moved by their efforts and compassion.
My self-cares today have been:
- watching the mental health global summit
- practising healthy boundaries
- going for a walk when I had some challenging emotional stuff come up
