We can do it BBers, we can do self-care.
Sleepy21 pointed out research that shows self-care REALLY helps!
Please share what you do for self-care so we can get inspiration, ideas and motivation to do it too.
Best wishes
EM

Hi All,
1. Went to two coastal spots with my camera, rested, walked a bit and took photos.
2. Got my dishes done while my dinner was in the oven. Always happy when I do this so I can relax after dinner without having to do dishes.
3. Listened to an interesting podcast while doing said dishes.

Hi Dools, you are doing well caring for yourself. Adjusting to what limits you have, stopping to notice what's around you in the enviroment, making the effort to apply for the job, (I'm hoping you will be called for an interview), while accepting the chances are slim.
My support worker called to say she was unwell, so I had to accept I would not be going out for my Saturday gym workout. Instead of allowing this disappointment to get me down, I:
Decided to get some exercise here, cleaning the underside of my bathroom rug, the tile floors (adding a few drops of a scented oil into the soapy water so they will smell nice), & the mats I have under my cutting boards to keep them from sliding about;
& I washed my hat.
& I have been using my 3kg dumbbells today, too.
Hand washing & mopping are a workout, but I have to stop occasionally because my back begins to hurt. Over al, I think I did okay.
Goodnight everyone,
It looks like I will be heading off to bed early-ish tonight. (Now it's my legs.)
Hugzies

Hi All,
MK, it sounds like you did really well getting through practical tasks while getting some exercise as well.
For me:
1. Rested on my couch.
2. Had nice cup of green tea with pear and jasmine. I find it very soothing.
3. Had friendly chats with people in town.

My self-cares today:
1. Did a meditation after breakfast. I have a balcony with my unit that looks out to trees and realised it’s a lovely spot to meditate. I meditated on feelings of gratitude towards a couple of people who’ve been very kind to me lately. I focused on their good energy and the warm feelings such kindness creates. I found this made me more present and in a better space for the rest of the day.
2. I did a gentle walk by the river, stopping to rest on a bench where I also lay down for a while. That was calming too.
3. Made a simple but yummy dinner of baked fish and sweet potato, kind of like my healthy version of fish and chips. I used a humongous lemon from my tree. I’ve only used about a fifth of it so will look for things to do with lemon in the next couple of days.

1. Meditated again this morning. I basically just let difficult emotions rise up out of me. I could feel the areas of pain in my body where emotions have been held. The weather outside was wild, matching my inner state as sadness, distress etc bubbled to the surface, which actually seemed to help my body release this stuff. There’s still more to come out but it’s in process which is a good thing.
2. I took in kindness. Someone showed caring and concern for me. I was able to really appreciate it and felt very thankful.
3. I watched an online seminar relating to healing, including from trauma. It was very helpful and the people presenting it were lovely which gave me a good feeling.

Hi all,
It's been a while, but coming out of a really bad autistic burnout, it seems like a good time to be accountable for my self care.
- Played World of Warcraft with my hubby into the wee hours. (Important, as our lives have gotten to revolve around medical appointments and have seriously lacked fun for the past year.)
- Went for a walk while there was some sunny weather (it's been way too long since I did this).
- Cooked a proper dinner that was so much better than take-away or frozen meals (again, way too long since I did this - it's been a rough month).
Kind thoughts to you all,
Blue.
