Life in general & trying to find & be the "real" me

Hi & thanks for taking the time to read this !

I'll keep this short & to the point. Hoping to elaborate later...

I have bee through sooo much & i'm still struggling with just "being me"

I am currently working on what i feel to be my spiritual being in order to start fresh at life.

I would just like to hear from anyone who has or is currently dealing with them self in a holistic way...Mind body & soul & would love to hear anyone's story on what was helpful.

I am a christian to the core & beyond. 100% believing in the bible,GOD,JESUS & THE HOLY SPIRIT etc & am currently searching for more peace in my earthly realm for now. I know a pretty broad description of what is most probably an easy answer. I just need good peoples advice to help me along my journey.

Thank you again for reading !

Any helpful advice about your experience in this thing called life would be greatly appreciated !

Hi Mattmo and welcome to our BB family,

i loved your post, it has a sense of calm even though you have had a tough time.

i like to pray. I believe God puts things in our path to guide us. Sometimes it's people we meet. We meet them for a reason, they may teach us something or guide us to something so I take note of who is brought into my life (good and bad) and the type of energy I get from them. Other times it's a situation. We may be faced with a negative situation but in amongst it there is a positive if we look a little deeper.

would love to hear about you.

Hi Matt, welcome to these forums.

This part is a good place to start on your quest. Staying well is about being yourself and finding those better moments.

I am also Christian but that doesn't mean we are going to see it all the same way, there are plenty of different points of view. Something that helps me is from the Quakers who's approach encourages us to see the essence of god in every thing. It is a challenge sometimes but every person in my life so far has had something valuable and beautiful in being themselves that has added to my life. I hope others will find the same with me. Another idea is from some of the old saints who reflected on living simply and paying attention to all the little things.

One of my favourite threads at the moment challenges us to store away our happy memories, but also the three things about the day is a good practice to be in.

Hi Mattmo,

I read a book called Relig-ish by Rachelle Mee-Chapman. The subtitle is 'soulful living in a spiritual-but-not religious-world'. It's mainly aimed at people who have left organised religion and are looking to fill a gap of ritual and community left by that. That doesn't sound exactly like your position (it isn't mine either) but one thing she talks about I've found really helpful.

You make a list of your core values - I think she says no more than 10. So it might be things like authenticity, courage, compassion, beauty, community etc. They might be consistent with religious or spiritual beliefs but you need to narrow in on which are the most important to you. Then you make time each day or each week to do things that specifically allow you to do something in keeping with one of them.... and also, you use them to make decisions, to guide how you spend your time and so forth. The idea is that you end up living more consistently in line with your core values and you feel more fulfilled and at peace because of that. It's been good for me.

Peace - Rayne

Hi Matt,

How are you doing? Another great book is 'assertiveness for earth angels' by Doreen Virtue. I am currently reading it and it is amazing.
