Hi Everyone.
I am just going to put this title out there and see what happens. Later on I will try to add old thread titles relating to this issue.
People may have wonderful weight loss stories to share, ideas on exercises that are beneficial, reducing binge eating tips etc.
Healthy recipes will also be welcome. Maybe even healthy foods you enjoy but your family consider to be rabbit food! Ha. Ha.
Unfortunately for depression sometimes means binge eating and comfort foods. A carrot just is not comfort food to my brain! I need to find ways to rechannel that way of thinking!
All ideas and thoughts are welcome here!
Cheers for now from Mrs. Dools

Yep, absolutely right. My neurologist recommended the weight loss. It has taken me a little while to work out how to be able to manage it will my illness.
Oh and another bonus, I can order online and don't need to leave the house. 🙂

Hi Everyone,
This thread is excellent, you are all contributing so much. We have no idea who is reading this information and finding encouragement, so keep up the fantastic work everyone!
I've been a bit distracted lately with family visiting, preparing for my sinus op and organising care for my clients for two weeks. It is amazing how much paper work I have to do just for a simple operation. All this adds to my stress. When I start to feel overwhelmed I find myself reaching for chocolate, biscuits and chips! Agggh!
It is very encouraging to read all of your comments about weight loss and the foods you are eating to help yourselves! Yes, Paul, I did read your post, thanks so much for sharing.
In thinking of ways to help myself with a healthier life style:
-I need to be more disciplined.
-If I need something from the supermarket, I need to purchase just what I need and not sweet little extras!
-I could take a banana and mandarin in the car to snack on during the day as I am driving around.
-A prepared container of dried fruits and nuts in the cupboard for a t.v. snack.
-I stew summer fruits and put them in the freezer so I can enjoy them in winter.
-Cut up carrot, celery and cucumber for a snack as well.
-Find different ways to reward myself other than with chocolates.
-Allow a little chocolate now and then, restrict the portion size!
-Add more vegetables and legumes to soups for lunch
I do wish you all determination, discipline and success with your endeavours to be healthier.
Remember, that like everything in life, a step back is just a momentary event, it does not have to overshadow your achievements or desires to proceed.

Hi Carol, Sorry i have been very busy & my internet has been playing up.
You asked about the baked apple. I cut the apple in half & then cut out the core. I then put the apple in a bowl covered with a plate or gladwrap. I cook it in the microwave for 2 minutes. Before my diet I would add some sultanas sugar cinnamon & margarine but now do cinnamon or nothing. It is so easy & delicious. I usually have some yogurt or custard made with skim milk. Because I'm not having sweet things on my diet like cakes etc the apple is a nice healthy dessert and tastes sweet without sugar.
My weightloss has slowed down but is continuing. My waist is slimmer so clothes are more comfortable.
Yesterday I was out over lunchtime & then went shopping. Normally I would be starving & would grab snacks from the shops to tide me over but I ate a couple of slices of ham I'd bought & then waiting till I got home to eat some more food fitting with my diet.
I have been making 100% wholemeal bread in a breadmaker. I bought a grinder & grind my own wheat. I don't do it all the time but both my husband & I find the bread is much more satisfying than shop bought bread & I am sure it is healthier.
I continue to walk each day including walking up & down 115 steps 2-3 times each walk. The exercise uses up more energy assisting with weight loss but also helps me feel better & more motivated thus able to keep going on the diet. I have had a few times when I have gone off the diet for a short period but I've been able to get back on track the next day which is encouraging

Hi Elizabeth,
That simple! I am not a fan of raw apples but get a lot with the meal plan...I shall microwave them, what a great idea.
Homemade bread sounds great. When I feel more up to doing stuff I will look into it. My aunt who lives up near Nambucca Heads makes her own and I remember how nice it was when I visited her.
Walking is great too. I need to get past my mental issues on that one. I get worried about running into people I know but don't feel up to driving elsewhere to walk. Once I get past this current low I am sure I can start again.
Thanks xx
Paul, your post made me laugh, thank you....healthy kitkat I believe is an oxymoron, hugs xx
