Can you think of 5 things you noticed or observed in nature today, using all your senses?
I was wondering if this would be a beneficial exercise to help us focus on something else instead of painful emotions, troubled thoughts, over thinking, anxiety feelings and the darkness of that alone place.
As well as to see that there really is beauty all around us....

Hi Shell and all,
Last night, I opened a window for some fresh air. As soon as I opened it, I heard the hissing wind. There was something very calming about it. It almost felt like a cleansing.
Also, over the weekend, I went for a walk and stumbled upon an area with very heavy fog that almost completely obliterated the trees there. There was an eerie beauty about it that I found comforting. Later when I returned to the same spot, the fog had cleared. I smiled inwardly and thought, in some ways, thatβs not so different to life at times.

Hi Shelley,
I love this idea! I made myself go for a long walk today, I find it hard to get the motivation at times to do so but when I do I feel so much better. It's like nature is giving you a big hug.
1. The cool breeze
2. The ducks in the water swimming
3. The sun shining
4. The smell of the eucalyptus
5. The blue sky

Hi Shell and all,
Sorry, just one and not five...
1. This morning, I looked out the window and was stunned by the vibrant pink and red sky.
Sunrise...
I stepped away for a few minutes but when I returned to look out the window again, the vibrant pink and red had faded into a more muted tone as the day was breaking through...

Hi Shell and all,
I doubt that Iβll come up with 5 but here it goes anyway...
I guess itβs because, for me at least, I need to feel a strong emotional pull to something in nature in order for me to write about it.
If I notice something but it doesnβt elicit much of an emotional response from me then I donβt write about it...I need to feel an emotional connection.
1. When I opened my window last night, there was a gentle breeze. I snapped my head up in shock; the sudden chill on my skin made me feel βalive.β There is often something about the wind that can shake me out of my indifference a little, and make me feel that little bit more βaliveβ and βhuman.β
2. Last evening, some birds had gathered in the yard and were making quite the racket with their chirping. Their chirps sounded almost aggressive- I wonder if they were fighting over something. Either way, it did make me smile internally because the noise temporarily made me forget my troubles.

Hi there pepper, you sound like you really like looking out windows. Is it the same one that you are looking out in all your posts?
The sunrise that you noticed sounds really beautiful. I like watching the break of the new day. Everything sort of wakes up.
Hey I am really glad that you experience an emotional connection to what you notice in nature. I particularly understand what you mean about the wind. I too feel a sense of invigoration and aliveness. Maybe it is the gust of extra oxygen or something?
And just taking nice deep breaths while your face is in the wind, especially cool breezes can make you feel more alive as well.

Hello Krystalramone,
Your walk sounds delightful. There is something about watching ducks just swimming in the water. I saw a line of them when I went for a walk last Thursday. It was like a little family going on an outing ... a swimming one. So cute..
Good on you for motivating yourself to venture out for a long walk. Way good. And I can now imagine the scent of eucalyptus... but I think it is a scent of some bathroom cleaner I am imagining.

Tonight as I went for a walk around the block several times, I noticed :
1...a lemon scent coming from shrubs or trees in a few front yards.
2... the feeling of the sprinkling of rain on my face.
3.... the watchdog / warning sort of bark of a dog that came up near me, as I passed its house. I decided to not pass it again.
4... the taste of walnuts in this raw chocolate brownie thing I made before I went for a walk.
5 .... the black bug running across the wet road.

Hi Shell and all,
Writing here is cathartic for me...
Itβs early morning and I canβt sleep (again).
1. There is something very peaceful about this time of morning. Darkness used to scare me when I was a child but Iβve found that as an adult, sometimes a dark sky can be very comforting.
I think itβs because when itβs dark, you donβt have to put on a fake smile...no one can see you...that is kind of liberating...

Thanks Shell π
Your comment about my window made me smile. Yes, itβs the same one but itβs only a coincidence. A funny coincidence but one nonetheless π
Itβs nice to hear that you also really appreciate the wind. I definitely hear you on how it can be invigorating.
Also, I liked your list of 5 especially the lemon scent. My mind drifted off to lemon drizzle cake suddenly. Lol.
Thanks for sharing.
