Hi everyone,
I wanted to start a conversation for farmers who are gay and looking to connect with others who share similar experiences. While I’m heterosexual, I have gay friends, and I know that rural and farming communities can sometimes feel isolating, especially when it comes to finding like-minded people or supportive spaces.
Farming life comes with its own unique challenges - long hours, family traditions, and strong community ties - which can sometimes make it hard to be open about who you are. I’d love to hear from those who have navigated this journey:
- How have you found support within your community?
- Are there groups, events, or online spaces that have helped you connect with others?
- What advice would you give to someone struggling with acceptance in a rural setting?
If you’re a farmer who identifies as LGBTQ+ or an ally, feel free to share your thoughts, experiences, or resources that might help others in the same situation. Let’s start an open and supportive discussion.
Looking forward to hearing your thoughts!

Dear new member~
Welcome here to the support forum. I guess your friends are lucky to have someone like you who is prepared to go to some lengths to assist in thier happiness and fulfillment.
To remain alone and stigmatized can seriously effect a person's self-esteem and lead to mental health issues
You obviously understand some of the problems farmers' face, and sometimes they can be difficult to overcome.
May I suggest you visit QLIFE, a place where members of the LGBTQIA+ community and those that support them can find information, ask advice and given realistic views. They may also know of suitable resources or groups your friends can join.
