Far out. I'm not sure what I am doing.
Was I meant to begin a new thread to introduce myself?
Anyway, I'm 45 (am I supposed to put my age?), have a
Chronic illness and a psychologically abusive husband
who is now home 24/7 because of covid19.
I don't know what to do.
My mental health is deteriorating.
Please help 😓.

Hi G,
I am new here too and have no idea what I'm doing either, so we're two peas in a pod atm 🙂
I just wanted to reach out and say that you are not alone. I have no idea what else to say but to ask you about yourself (are we allowed to do this?).
Do you have any hobbies?
I couldn't have survived an extremely abusive marriage without gardening. We never had 2c to rub together because of his many addictions (I had no idea about most of them). But I had an 'escape' of sorts in the garden. Maybe sometimes a few moments of peace until he tracked me down at least.
I am nowhere near that situation anymore. We are all very much still in the recovery mode years on but gardening is still an important part of my life.
I would live to hear what things you like to do?
Sending you many Prayers.

Very kind of you to get in touch.
Yes I do have hobbies. Sewing and gardening. My husband seems to gravitate to wherever I am though. Today was a better day thank goodness. He got out of the house for a while today and curbed his anger tonight. I think he could tell I was at the end of my tether, so to speak.
Here's to small miracles! 🙏

Dear G,
Yes hooray to small miracles! I love sewing too, mostly needlework, but my hands are so swollen from heavy work that holding a needle is not possible lol. I might need to exchange the chainsaw for a needle one day lol.
I understand the type of 'helicopter' relationship it appears you are in atm. It made me feel on guard all the time, a feeling of hyper (or is it hypo ugh!) vigilance. I still have this feeling but have some strategies to ground me, IF I remember to practise them.
I hope it's okay that I share a Course that I cannot praise highly enough. It was one of the most informative, supportive and educational courses I have ever attended. It is or was called 'Breaking Free' and was run through the local Women's Health Centre. I was referred by Headspace although you can self refer. I really must let them know how invaluable the course was hmmm...
I understand you can attend it in a 1:1 setting but I truly felt the group setting was far more beneficial for me.
MANY women were still in their troublesome marriages.
It is NOT a judgemental course. Amazing support and some laughs too which was surprising.
The commitment of 10 weekly sessions was daunting to me but after putting it off for nearly a year and feeling so overwhelmed, I enrolled and it was a pinnacle turning point for me in changing all the things that I had to change. My situation was very dark indeed.
It completely opened my eyes and I was sitting there gobsmacked for many of the sessions.
It took me years to implement all the actions I needed to. Most of these actions I never saw coming! But if I hadn't attended the course, then I would never have known what to do next or who to go to for help. It helps you get 'linked in' to many other support services if you choose.
I am so glad you are here. I Pray that you can find many moments of peace in your day.

That is fantastic advice and I thank you from the bottom of my heart. I will look into it. Did you have to physically go to meetings? I have a chronic illness and can no longer drive and travel makes me unwell.

Hi Getoutofmyhead
Sorry for taking so long to reply. Hugs.
I'm positive if you phoned your closest Women's Health Centre, they would pull out all stops to provide the Course to you. In all honesty it was being part of the group that exponentially helped the Course content sink into my head. (Pretty thick head in these areas lol). Explain your difficulties, where there's a will, there's a way.
The group setting also made me feel that I was NOT alone. And you're not.
There also may be other groups / courses / supports available to you. It's really time to reach out further afield and get as linked in as you can.
Let us know how you get on if you like.
Best wishes
EM
