hello
I'm a new member. I'm feeling so upset. I thought I was prepared for my Mum's death but I wasn't. It's four months now and the days and nights are such a struggle.
I'm dreading all the "firsts" ..this coming Mothers Day, an upcoming family celebration, my birthday, her birthday. ...you get the idea.
On top of that I'm dealing with the likelihood of having to have a loved pet put to sleep.
I'm very fortunate to have a loving partner and lovely girls but I have never felt so lonely ..if that makes sense.
Please tell me I'm not alone. I'm alternating between crying a lot of the time and/or getting upset and angry with my loved ones.
I have suffered with anxiety and depression for most of my life..close to forty years so this also multiplies the grief.
Thank you for taking the time to read.

Hello Trieste
Welcome to Beyond Blue forums. Glad you've found your way here. It is a very supportive, caring and friendly place.
Grieving is a very difficult process to go through. It's very difficult managing all those emotions that come from the loss of a loved one. Having had anxiety and depression most of your life, the additional stress is definitely bound to make you feel worse. No matter how much we prepare ourselves for the inevitable, it still comes as a shock when the end happens. You are not alone at all. Many people go through this when they lose someone close. Grief has no set pattern and everyone experiences grief differently.
It’s also important that you take care of yourself and reach out to others.
We’d encourage you to get in in touch with us via our Support Service on 1300 224 636 or www.beyondblue.org.au/getsupport and we can talk through some options to help you through your loss.
Please be gentle with yourself right now.
Kind regards
PamelaR

I am sorry for the loss of you mum.
You have a lot on your plate.
you are not alone . Grieve at your own pace.
my mother died on the day after Mother's Day so every year it is near Mother's Day or sometimes on it.
I found that if I started writing letters t o my mum it helped still feel connected. Or just writing down thoughts. It may not help you but it helped me.
post here when you feel like it.

Thank you Quirky. I'm sorry to hear that your Mum died just after Mothers Day. This time of year must be very hard for you.
That is a great suggestion of yours about writing letters to my Mum. I love writing letters and have written one to my Mum but I think it would be a great help to continue doing that. I do find healing in writing letters and poems.
Thanks so much for caring.

Thank you PamelaR
Your comments are words are very helpful. I wasn't sure how much difference posting on the online forum would make but I've been encouraged.
I do believe it would be most helpful for me to contact Beyondblue directly and I will be doing this.
Thank you for caring.
