Why does my anxiety depression feel better in the evenings.

Hi,
Can anyone answer that question, it's odd, every evening I'm full of hope, eg: tomorrow I will do this and that and be proactive, next morning, step out of bed into a pre dug hole.
Regards

Dear Retchey~
Well I'm not sure, I can give you a couple of guesses.
First in an evening one is tired, One spends a day with energy expended in normal living and also anxiety and at the end of the day there is less energy to fuel worry and normal senses and emotions return 'unchained'
In the morning the day hits one with all its problems, real and perceived, because they are right now, so you feel down.
Dunno if I'm on track, good question though

If I'm invited to a family get together in 6 months time, then I will say that I'm going to be there, but as the time approaches closer, that's when I want to get out of going, it's a fictive or imaginary time so it's easy to make plans for tomorrow or even further into the future because it's not in reality. Hi Retchey,
Welcome to the community here. There may be many reasons this is the case for you.
Do you work? If you wake up in the morning and think you have a hundred things t6o do before you go to work, that is enough to make anyone feel freaked out and anxious.
Compare your morning activities to those in the morning? Are you a lot less pressured in the evening?
Is there a way you can cut back on the morning anxiety, do a few things at night to help prepare for the morning.
Make a list of morning priorities, if needed, cut these back to smaller roles.
Do you take medication at all? Maybe the time of day you take it can affect you also.
Maybe get up half an hour earlier so you have more time in the mornings if you feel pressured.
I would be thankful I have one part of the day where I feel a lot better, think about why this is so and try to replicate that in the mornings.
Cheers from Mrs. D.

Hi
Thanks for the replies, I'm off work atm with work related anxiety / depression, maybe you are all correct, just thought it was a question I'd put out there, to see if anyone feels the same.

Hi Retchey,
I certainly do understand how you feel. Some mornings I wake up and think I am never going to get out of bed, but I always do, some days are just a lot harder than others.
By late afternoon I feel like all the "jobs" and "duties" I need to perform are completed so the time feels like it is my time to do as I like, that certainly adds to a greater sense of relaxation.
As you are currently off work due to anxiety and depression, are you receiving any assistance, care or help at present?
Please know you only have to respond and write what ever you feel comfortable doing here. It may help to share what is so distressing with your work place. People here might have some suggestions for you that may help.
Hope you have had an okay kind of a day Retchey. Cheers.

Hi,
It's the third time now since 2011 that I have been down this road with work, I've been with the one company for 18 years now, and I guess I'm kind of institutionalised, I work retail for a large multinational chain as a meat manager, the ever changing environment and cutting of hours to reduce prices is ruthless, I have also been battling physical injuries that have turned into psychological injuries.

Hello Retchey
Good to meet you. I'm not sure about night-time/reduced depression question. I have a friend who is always anxious for the day to end because once it is dark she feels better. Maybe it's the thought that darkness is holding you in safety, that you are held in night's arms where all is safe.
Maybe the night makes us feel better. Perhaps a throwback to our ancestors sitting round a fire in their cave knowing they will be safe until morning.
Could be that most people will be home and less likely to visit you.
Hope that helps.
Mary

I'm soon off here so haven't read replies but I was surprised in evening feeling better cause we're usually tired from the day but then thought maybe without realising it you're working through it all because you feel so horrid in the mornings, if that's the case, well done. Got some strength kicking in there 🙂
All best to you and all

Hi Retchey,
Are you having any assistance with your issues? Do you manage to get any relief from your pain? I understand pain, I worked in aged care without lifting machines and my back, neck, shoulders and now my legs are a mess.
I knew a butcher years ago who had trouble with his hands, arms, shoulders and back.
Issues with rules, regulations and new deadlines and limits doesn't help you either.
Have you considered going down the path of Work Cover? I did. That is a whole new thread topic right there!)
If you don't mind me asking have you been to a psychologist who may be able to help you with all of this? Been to a pain clinic? Do you have support at home? Is there a HR person at work who can help you?
I really do hope you find some answers!
Hopefully you can also find things to do that will give you a sense of happiness and peace while you are at home: movies, music, books having friends over, what ever to help you get a sense of self back.
Cheers to you from Mrs. D.
