Constantly looking for work and never getting interviews, cant seem to land any long term work and ive spent most of my time on the dole being broke since finishing highschool. I've been seeing a psychologist but doesn't seem to understand me, its very hard. Maybe my depression is affecting how i look for work?

Welcome to the forum. This is a kind place with supportive people.

It can be so disheartening continually applying for work and never getting an interview. The trouble is the more times you don't get an interview the more you feel less motivated to apply for more jobs.

Depression affects how we view things. How do you feel depression is affecting how you look for work?

Would you be up to doing some volunteer work in an area you are interested in?

It can sometimes be hard to develop a rapport with a psychologist.

Can you explain how you feel and you would like the psychologist to help you.?

Thanks for writing your first post.

Hi Neverbeenready,

It's like that for a lot of people trying to find employment. Sometimes you're lucky, sometimes you're not.
If you're really struggling, maybe try some volunteering and list that down on your resume, it will entice employers to have a look as it shows your hard-working and reliable.

Are you providing cover letters with your Resumes? if so, try selling yourself a little hard in the cover letter. Have info on both the resume and cover letter, that way you have a better chance of catching their attention.
Also try creating a linkedin account, that is a great social network for employment and career professional.

I really hope you find something soon and that you feel better.

Take care. 🙂
