Has anyone with depression ever noticed improvement after only a few days of increasing meds.
I have never noticed any improvement ever but last couple days not as severly depressed as before.
I always have read other peoples stories of how meds improved their outlook.
Could this finally be my time to be one of the people who respond to meds.
I hope so i have suffered so much for too long
I want and need to feel selfish that its my turn to feel better

Dear Scared,
I have never been one of these people where medication turns me around in a few days.
I may have felt slightly better,if say the medication allowed me to have a better quality of sleep than I was before. But not a magical better life/outlook.
Medication can be so valuable, however it isn’t the key to recovery. It is part of a process that involves talk therapy, self-care ect. So one thing alone can’t achieve recovery. It is a group effort.
I don’t know if sometimes we are aware of changes medication can induce,as we are living our lives from our point of view. And sometimes we don’t identify small changes in ourselves, that people closest to us might be noticing.
I don’t know what is happening in your life today, but I wish you well.

Hi Scared,
I don't have experience with medication myself but I have friends some responding to them straight away but some taking a long time. But either way healing journey is bit of a process when you want it to last long and stay stable. I've been to therapy for a long time on and off but rather than considering it as a medicine for an illness, I consider it as a learning process, learning how to deal with my emotions and right way to respond to them. But when I come across something very challenging I might need help again for little bit of direction. That and lot of self care and help from family and friends will keep me centred in my path to recovery. I hope you find your path to recovery too!

Hi Scared
In regard to the first antidepressant I ever took, I can recall thinking 'Is this actually working or is there a bit of a placebo effect happening?'. Looking back, the med did kick in within a handful of days and I know this because I could compare it to all the other meds that came after it, that didn't work at all. So, a significant mind altering difference vs no difference. The reason I stopped taking it was to become pregnant. Unfortunately, for one reason or another, it failed to work after I had my daughter (hence trialing other meds). I think when a certain med and its dosage ticks all the boxes, it's a 'BINGO!' moment that can be felt. Hoping this med and dosage is a winner for you 🙂
