I don't know if anyone has heard of the term loveshyness I'm not sure if it is formally recognised but I am a sufferer I am 41 and have never been on a date let a lone had a girlfriend they always reject me or put me in the creep zone, my last incident got me banned from a major gym. I believe this is partly linked to my depression. I stared seeing another doctor for convenience of appointments I was very tired all the time and he sai it was due to the depression, he sent me to a psychiatrist who diagnosed with a major depressive disorder. I've tried heaps of medications, and just the last few times this doctor started getting into me about getting a girlfriend and that will fix all my problems I tried to explain the problems I have and he was giving me anxiety attacks he was doing more harm than good. I have since gone back to my old doctor

Hi Rockstar,
I haven't heard of the team officially but can make out what it would mean. There are many people who haven't been on a date etc it isn't as uncommon as you may think. Just for clarification, regarding the doctor you speak of, is that your GP or your psychologist? If it is back to your old GP, can they recommend you too another psychologist who may specialise more in what you are dealing with. Do you believe the issues with not being on a date etc are linked to you having depression?
Has the doctor recommended anything else to possibly help you battling the depression other than medication?
My best for you,
Jay

Hi Rockstar,
I would be looking for a new psychologist if you can, perhaps calling the Beyond Blue helpline on 1300 22 4636 and ask for advice, they have great people there who can help you and point you in the right direction, has your GP offered any more advice on what the next step would be to help you?
My best,
Jay

Hi Rockstar,
I think I'd have something similar to your loveshyness. I was confident that I would end up the crazy cat lady and even "proud" of it but really I did wish I had someone there for me and it was just a cover to how I felt - insecure and unattractive.
I tend to be pretend to be social and likeable but push them away the moment I feel they try to get closer.
I don't know about a 'girlfriend' who could fix all your problems - I've learnt the only person who can 'fix' anything is yourself. I had a GP try to save my relationship (the one and only one I have had ever) and it was such a turn off because it made me feel even more unworthy. You know, not helping me because of me, but because of someone else. (sad)
Anyway. I don't know how to conduct myself with the opposite sex except to 'pretend' to be the same likeable person I am with everyone else. I've had some guys smile, ask me about my status, express what I think is interest a couple of times but I got so scared I literally just made some excuse to leave.
But underneath it all I think I'm an unlikeable and unattractive person, and that no one would love me. The feeling is just horrendous.
