Hi
im new to the forums. My husband and I have recently (July) had to put our business of 10 years into liquidation.
I have been on medication for depression for 16 years now and at the moment I am really struggling with life. We may lose our home and the only job I can get is part time and doesn't cover our bills. I have a Doctors appointment on Monday but life has become hard. I am having to deal with the liquidator as well as run the home and I feel so alone even though my Husband is with me(he is coping ok. I am snapping on my kids and don't know if life will get better. I would love to get advise from anyone who has been in a similar situation. Thanks for reading my post x

Hi frosty, welcome
Financial hardship can be a big trigger for depressed people.
It is also more traumatic to go through liquidation. Its very common.
Also, when couples split all of a sudden half you assets are gone and people find that hard to accept.
I dont want to paint a picture that losing your home is ok, it isnt, but eventually you'll accept your situation without the worry of keeping your business afloat.
I ran a successful investigation company for 18 years then suddenly I was pensioned off. A friend eent bankrupt but he told me it was a big relief. He could still get a loan for essentials.

Sit down with hubby and tell him you have got to support each other to get through this hurdle. Set about a serious budget. Recreation like a picnic at a lake and other low cost ways to seek contentment works.
remember, in 5 or 8 years you'll look back and say "we recovered, we survived and we are happy.
Good luck. Post anytime.

I say this because my wife had left me with a mortgage, car repayments and more credit cards than anybody would ever want to pay off, and as soon as the banks let me increase my limit I took it, getting myself into so much trouble.
I'm now cleared of everything and have money in the bank, but Anglicare will also stop all phone calls from companies who are harassing you plus the continuous mail demanding payment, and they will deal with the liquidators easing the burden that you have to take, please I hope that you will do this. Geoff.
