It's very brave to post a comment because I'm sure there would have been times when you had written your comment, then edited it or perhaps deleted it in fear of being judged, but can I please assure you that you are on a very safe site, where all of us have had our own experiences of depression, whatever type it maybe have been, so before we even begin we know exactly how you are feeling, although we are unsure of your circumstances.
Please have trust in us and we will do anything to try and make it better for you, and the good part is that it's anonymous, so please when you feel comfortable it would be great to hear back from you, and never be afraid to disclose what no one else may not know about. Geoff.

Welcome Xris,
Many of us here understand the feeling. I feel for you, many more of us will too. As Geoff sad, you are safe amoungst friends.
Well done for taking the first step, that is awesome. You should be proud of yourself for taking the courage to make an account and post. I remember how long it took me, and that does not seem so long ago.
How you continue? One step at a time, with what ever you feel comfortable with.
All the very best to you.

Hi Xris, I am feeling similarly at the moment, it's pretty awful. I hate that these feelings come and linger. Sometimes the heaviness in my chest from the anxiety/depression feels so palpable and overwhelming as are the feelings of hopelessness and futility. The past week or so has been very difficult and I have had lingering feelings of feeling very flat and not interested in anything. Things do change eventually but it is hard to see beyond what is going on when you are that down. I find it helpful to write down my feelings and follow some strategies from the book 'The Happiness Trap'. When things get really bad I follow the process below. I typed up my own word document using these headings and save them on my computer to show my psychologist sometimes. I hate having to do it but it is helpful for me. I try to remind myself that I am feeling down because I am thinking in an unhelpful way and believing in unhelpful thoughts such as ' things are hopeless'. I find it helpful to say to myself ' I notice I am having the thought that.....'. I find this helpful because it takes away the power of the thought. Take care

Awful place to be isn't it. (Hear you, been there often including recently)
Believe me when I say it won't necessarily be this way all the time.
Do you think you can talk about what's causing this pain?
We can offer suggestions for help to get through this
No one judges here as Geoff said, very well moderated and believe me people really do care and because we know & experience pain on all levels there's a lot of understanding and empathy here
Christopher123, excellent post 🙂
Xris hope to see you here again and in case you don't know sometimes posts can take a while to come through as they have a lot to sift through
Hold on, there's better than this

Hey Xris,
I'm brand new to this. All I can say is I know what your going through because I'm in the same spot right now. It's hard trying to find reasons why, but "it is what i is". When I feel suicidal a repeat in my head "This will pass" over and over. So far so so good! Just know that you are not alone in your suffering. Hope you feel better soon.

Welcome Ooodie, what a nice post.
Just wanted to say hi, and congrats on your first post!!
Yes, I was there only a few short years ago, and I got help and it did get a lot better. The ups and downs of life are still at it, but I have developed "resilience" as my councillor puts it. I think it is putting one step in front of the other and keeping on to the sunshine.
Hi to demonblaster, great post mate.
All the best to all.

Hey Xris 🙂
How are you doing now? I'm hoping you're seeing these posts, maybe not feeling up to replying yet but it is a good outlet talking here and you can be as open as you want.
As you can see a lot of people do care and understand what it's like to be where you are.
We want to help you through this crap time
Thanks QLDMouse good of you to say. Uplifting to hear stuff like that 🙂

Hi Chris,
Thank you for voicing something that I'm sure many of us here have thought an endless number of times.
Sometimes when we think of "the bigger picture" it's overwhelming and it all seems insurmountable, never ending and just too much. When I have similar thoughts, I like to remind myself to try and find happiness in the little things (the warmth of the sun of my face, that great movie I saw last night, the comfort of a cup of hot chocolate). Focusing on these small pockets of happiness helps bring my mood up and kick-start a more positive mindset.
I hope this is of some use to you and please do come back to chat more if you'd like 🙂
