My dog, he knows something’s not right. Won’t leave my side.
on the surface I have nothing to complain about, great family, good job, nice home. Inside is completely numb, no energy, no drive to be alive. Everyday I put on a good performance for those around me to avoid causing any worries. Just wish I knew how to shake this off without any fuss.
we acknowledged my depression 8 years ago and done the whole roller coaster ride of highs and very low lows. I was actually thinking I could stop the meds until this latest challenge jumped on my back about 6 months ago.
my apologies if my sh!t sandwich isn’t as dramatic as some. Makes me question my posting at all but I’m seeking ideas how to recharge the soul.

Hi NumPy,
Wellcome to our forums!
Im sorry you are feeling this way.
I understand depression would be difficult.
Do you have a passion for something?
I found once you find your passion your soul really comes alive because you are doing what your soul desires and we are then living our purpose.
😊

Sometimes just saying I’m not ok in safe places like this is enough. If this head space persists I’ll go back to my therapist. Thank you

Can’t say I have a passion for anything. Interests, yeah. Seth Godin (author) suggests everyone has a super power, a skill they excel at. Mine is learning new things quickly and applying the skill. Maybe I need to find a new problem to solve.
thanks

Hello Dear NumPy,
Im pleased to hear that if you’re unable to get on top of your depression you are considering going back to your therapist..
I have lost all passion for doing things and keep trying different new things to distract my thoughts onto something I enjoy..,,Hard finding that something though...Depression just keeps all our passions/hobbies etc deep inside our mind and overtakes it so easily...Finding it again is really difficult..
Problem solving sounds such a good trait to have...I am the complete opposite...choices I think is a way we solve personal problems....
Everyone who struggles with there mental health is just as important as the other person....You might think that your struggles are not as dramatic as others here...but in your soul you are hurting and finding life not at all happy and that to me and our community is so sad....Life isn’t supposed to lived in depression 24/7...
We are here for you dear NumPy, and hope we can help support you through this rough patch your going through...,
Please take good care of you..and keep talking here if you’re feeling up to it..
My kindest thoughts and care NumPy..
Grandy..

Hi NumPy,
It's a really positive step that you've noticed this within yourself and reached out somewhere you feel safe to try and get through it. Depression can be crippling, and often so draining of our energy which makes it harder to push ourselves to try new things that might help...
I have found solace in very steps to build myself up and climb out of this place many times.
Sometimes, if I'm bedridden and sad, I reach for a pen and paper (or my notes on my phone) to make a long list of things im grateful for. As much as I can possibly think of. As small and simple as sunshine and clean drinking water, or as specific as people or experiences in my life. It might seem trivial, but pushing our brain to think this way can be really helpful to build more positive pathways when we are at our lowest.
Maybe you could try this sometimes through the week?
Let us know how you're getting on.

Hello NumPy, if only 'mans best friend' had the capacity to talk, well they do but not in our language but we can understand their thinking.
Everyone who posts has a problem and it's not up to us to determine who has more problems than another person, we just reply to those who are in a similar position are we were or still am.
If you are quick to learn and apply new skills then may be you could go to another step and teach those wanting to learn, I wonder whether this is possible.
Geoff.
