Hey baileybasil
Positive self talk is not for everyone and finding a psychologist doesn't work for many.., it is hard to find a good one, or one that is affordable or without a waiting list.
Some ppl feel more suicidal on certain medications, also sometimes lowering a dose too suddenly can cause this reaction. How frequently do u see the psychiatrist?
I'm a believer that meds only do so much...
I'm pretty wary of the medical model of mh, at times it is very cold and clinical. Do if right before Xmas u tell Ur gp how u feel, which was so brave, and u are dismissed. This is not what we call a person centred approach. What support do u need from the health system? If Ur psych and gp aren't giving good care, maybe we could brainstor, what supports would be more helpful for u....
It's not Ur fault, and it sounds like Ur gp was insensitive.
Take care

I only saw the psychiatrist for one session, I don’t know why they always give me general anxiety disorder and nothing more serious when anxiety is the most crippling part of my life.
I don’t have any supports around me, nothing to smile about or look forward to. All I do is wake up and waste time til the next day

Hi BaileyBasil,
I don't have supports either.
I think psychs need to monitor the medication, are able to contact them between sessions or the psych triage if u feel the meds are making u suicidal.
I'm sorry u don't have any supports. It can be really hard to get support and find ppl who care.
From my limited experience, a lot of ppl aren't very sensitive about mental health or trauma.

The medication I’m on doesn’t seem to do anything, I have only been on them for like 2 weeks now.
I don’t think there’s any point in trying to contact my doctors regarding the meds seeing as though they don’t care.
Going on meds was a last resort for me, the last attempt I had to get better, and now I’m going through trial and error while my life gets even worse around me, I just want it to work.
My psychiatrist diagnosed me with “canabis use disorder” like what? And he said to stop smoking and just try the pills but nothing else works, the pills don’t work

Sorry what’s a triage?
I know because even though I expressed I’m actively wishing for death, I was told to just stick it out
I’m afraid of being put on watch and of all the stress that goes with it if I did go to the hospital

Hi baileybasil,
No problem . So every public hospital has a 24 hour phone line called psych triage or the CATT Team, they are a team of trained Mental health staff including nurses who can provide over the phone assessment for suicidlaity.
They mostly don't put u on watch or hospitalise u, but they can give e u the options which one of them may be to come in
They can also dispense meds jn an emergency eg give u something sedative or calming or keep u overnight in a safe cubicle or room,
I've been in, spoken to them on the phone and they helped me tonnes.
Which suburb u live in determines which triage u contact, ie which public hospital team. But I believe in an emergency, if u show up in person the team will see ppl from anywhere.
Some triage phone operators are really worldly, nice ppl who just listen. They've seen it all.

My anxiety is too much to talk on the phone 😞 I won’t even call my bank now that my mobile banking is messed up
I don’t let myself have options, I think I like being this way idk
If my anxiety was gone everything would fall into place
